Suzhou interactive map

, , ,

I'm a big, big fan of Google stuff, and at the weekend they launched a maps/pics mash-up that allows anyone to make personalised maps, incorporating photos, videos and text. Pretty sweet.

So, here's mine: a colourful and personal view of Suzhou. Here's how it works.

1. Click on this link here and it'll take you to my Suzhou map.
2. This is important: Switch to the “Satellite” option, because there are currently no maps of China. Like this:

3. You can zoom in or out using the sliding scale on the left, or drag the map to move in any direction.
4. Click on any of the blue markers, which will then show my text, and a photo of that exact location.

I have taken all these photos over the past three years. There are currently nearly 30 markers with pics, and one that has video. I'll keep adding to it with time. Here's another screenshot:

All pics were genuinely taken at those locations. If you're in the city, you might recognise the locales, and you could investigate any new places for yourself if you wish!
