Com cerca de 50 metros de altitude, o Morro do Espia, era utilizado por vigias, que monitoravam a entrada de embarcações no antigo porto, e alertavam a população quando da chegada de piratas. Atualmente é muito visitado por turistas, devido à visão panorâmica única da cidade e de todo o Complexo Estuarino Lagunar, bem como, de toda a extensão do Valo Grande, proporcionando assim, uma melhor compreensão geográfica do resultado de uma equivocada intervenção do homem na natureza.
