Bebert is a Geotrupidae (from Greek geos, earth, and trypetes, borer), a member of the family of beetles in the order Coleoptera. They are commonly called dor beetles or earth-boring dung beetles.
Indeed.
Wings-equipped, the geotrupidae can fly with a characteristic buzzing.
Do I look "characteristic" to you? WTF.
Those insects are typically detrivores, provisioning their nests with leaf litter (often moldy), but are occasionally coprophagous, similar to dung beetles.
Yeah, yeah. Not my favourite meal really. and I... Uh? what's that?
They sometimes drink the sap of cutted trees or mature fruits.
GOD! Look at that!
You can witness dozen of them dying in a beer can left in the forest.
Yumm, it's an 5-days-old' one at least!

According to the latest news, Bebert and his pals are alright, they are sleeping it off in lamma's garden.
I got up to 6 drunken beetles a day, falling in the garden. Even my cats are bored.
But every time, I felt I HAVE to help them to rollover upright.

Après près d'un mois (UN MOIS!) de pluie torentielle, le soleil a ENFIN décidé de remontrer le bout de son nez, derrière de gros nuages certes, mais toud'même-on-va-pas-se-plaindre, c'est toujours mieux que la pluie.
J'en profite donc pour foncer à la plage (....)
Et là surprise! tout est transformé.
'fallait s'y attendre, en s'écoulant vers la mer l'eau a creusé le sable.
Or, dois-je vous le rappeller, Lamma Island étant une île avec une part décente de végétation et pas trop de béton, eh bien le relief s'en est trouvé bouleversé.
(la séance de crobards a été interrompue à 3 reprises par la euh... reprise de la pluie, donc. Ceci expliquant cela, que je vous poste ces dessins bien après la tempête).

After a month (A WHOLE MONTH!) of rain, the sun finally decided to show up (behind the clouds, but hey! this is still sun-like).
So, I ran to the beach-MY beach (...)
And there SURPRISE! All is messed-up.
Right, after the rain, water went down to the sea and digged the sand. And you-know-what? as Lamma island is an....island, right, well the relief got changed.
(my sketching sessions got interrupted 3 times because of rain's resumption, I'm posting later than ever, after the storm)
The path to the beach (looking upriver)
A bit lower, still looking upriver, at its highest point, the sand trench is one meter high.
Plants and roots saved the trench (Junior Woodchucks Guidebook: if you have to camp on the beach, choose to put your tent on the plants: it's the point the sea never reach)
Remember last year, when the barge run around on the beach, right there? Well, now an english-speaking guy is building a cairn with big pebbles. "One day, one little more" as he told us.

...I admit, I copied the one with talent.
Sometimes, I really don't have much to tell, so I just sketch without any subject.
It reminds me an interesting experiment of Scott McCloud in his INVISIBLE ART:
Sketch any shape and add EYES.
It becomes an anthr... antrop... Anthropomorphism figure. And then? Well, sometimes gets funny...

...honteusement pompé sur le travail de celui qui a du talent. Parfois, j'ai rien à dire, et je fais du dessin sans crobarder les gens pour passer le temps.
Ca me rapelle une expérience intéressante de Scott McCloud dans son ART INVISIBLE:
dessinez n'importe quelle forme, et rajoutez-lui des yeux.
cela devient une figure anthropomorphe (antropoquoi?-anthropomorphe). Ben, parfois, ça donne des trucs marrants...
