Hong Kong Art Center's live concert

, , , ...

Merde!

Between 40-floors-high skyscrappers and high-density-roads stood the Hong kong Art center Plaza on whom there's a live event every last month's friday.
yesterday was a concert/improvisation. I bought a new ink-paintbrush and went sketching.

Yesterday we saw a live concert at the HONG KONG ART CENTER
Yes
There was a real crowd
And musicians
that was cool
And maaaaany photographs
(and some hands)
Young singers from Bengladesh
And theirs uncle
and Auntie! Dunnot forget me..
And a brazilian band
THAT ROCKS!
I'm the rocking bassist
but sometimes comes a bus
then, you cannot hear the music anymore?
just like in Paris's subway!
Wha'?
Fucking Bus...
Say, it's a weird place to play music anyway...
Between Buildings and roads...
Nahhh... That's Hong Kong youd'know
No Gov' aid
No budget,
Nor sponsor
We play music because we want to!
Shit, here comes another bus...
please note that this style of sketch+texts is stolen from the master Erwann Surcouf, and there's a (beautiful) example here. Well, it's not really stolen, it's inspiration!

Beetle Bébert.

, , , ...

english translation:
Meet Bebert.
Yo.
Bebert is a Geotrupidae (from Greek geos, earth, and trypetes, borer), a member of the family of beetles in the order Coleoptera. They are commonly called dor beetles or earth-boring dung beetles.
Indeed.
Wings-equipped, the geotrupidae can fly with a characteristic buzzing.
Do I look "characteristic" to you? WTF.
Those insects are typically detrivores, provisioning their nests with leaf litter (often moldy), but are occasionally coprophagous, similar to dung beetles.
Yeah, yeah. Not my favourite meal really. and I... Uh? what's that?
They sometimes drink the sap of cutted trees or mature fruits.
GOD! Look at that!
You can witness dozen of them dying in a beer can left in the forest.
Yumm, it's an 5-days-old' one at least!

According to the latest news, Bebert and his pals are alright, they are sleeping it off in lamma's garden.

I got up to 6 drunken beetles a day, falling in the garden. Even my cats are bored.
But every time, I felt I HAVE to help them to rollover upright.

After a month (A WHOLE MONTH!) of rain, the sun finally decided to show up (behind the clouds, but hey! this is still sun-like).

So, I ran to the beach-MY beach (...)

And there SURPRISE! All is messed-up.

Right, after the rain, water went down to the sea and digged the sand. And you-know-what? as Lamma island is an....island, right, well the relief got changed.

(my sketching sessions got interrupted 3 times because of rain's resumption, I'm posting later than ever, after the storm)

The path to the beach (looking upriver)
A bit lower, still looking upriver, at its highest point, the sand trench is one meter high.

Plants and roots saved the trench (Junior Woodchucks Guidebook: if you have to camp on the beach, choose to put your tent on the plants: it's the point the sea never reach)

Remember last year, when the barge run around on the beach, right there? Well, now an english-speaking guy is building a cairn with big pebbles. "One day, one little more" as he told us.

Did it ever happen to you that your landlord knock at your door at 00H00 to tell you that she has sold the house and that you have to leave before the end of the month?

Well, it just happen to me right now.

HK INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2008 review

, , , ...

Honestly, I believe that our old-fashionned (old and young) french artists better start worrying.

Here are a few sketches from there (click to enlarge).

white little thingy / petite bestiole blanche

It's been a while that we lived together, but now all our outside plants are covered by those tiny jumping insects.
As they are really tiny I can't manage to take a picture (I've no macro), so as usual here are some sketches (clik to enlarge).

"It" is 2 millimeters long, is red-brown/purple, has tiny legs, jumps (Wow, kinda scary), but most notable thing are those feather-like things on their back.

Does anyone has a clue? Actually I would really like to know either it bites or not? :insane:
(or if this is eatable)

:insane:

Headmaster

english translation:
Last thursday, I went to a job interview as they were looking for a "visual art teacher" in college.
It was not the first time I applied for this kind of job in Hong Kong, so I diden't worried.
When I arrived, I felt ready and decided to ask for more money.
(30 minutes in the waiting room break my enthusiasm)
Finally, someone came to get me.
...mister..."charmes"
Thank you for coming, so as you already know we are looking for a candidate for the job of "headmaster" of the Artistic Department of all the University's Campus. So, we'll let you introduce yourself and then we will all ask you a few questions...
Headmaster?
-well-shaved cheeks (look very young)
-Cannibal Corpse T-Shirt sticking out from the shirt
-Old geek pant

...and?
and? Well, I answered their questions, they answered mines, and it was done.
You know, this "headmaster job", it's 10% sketching classes and 90% of administrative work. Not really the kind of student's relationship that you like.
Hmm... yeah, I guess so.
I also think it's time for me to stop wearing my lucky shirt for job interviewes...

http://www.findinternettv.com/Video,item,2125754871.aspx

As by us, "civilized occidental people", chinese like to have some fish tanks at home, with many fishes, as goldfishes (and others) bring luck and happyness (you know, Feng Shui and stuff).
When I was visiting Waiyim's aunties in Guangzhou, I've seen beautiful fishes in the main room... with HUGES FISHES inside!
the bigger fish you have at home, the more luck he'll bring you.

Ans don't shed no tear little darling, even if the tank might be a bit small for the fish lord, I guess he fells better there than in a restaurant's fish tank.

The famous chinese painter Pang Jun was pushed away by the Hongkong police when painting in the streets in Central, because he was "blocking the pedestrains traffic".

Allright, let's get him on "three"...
Steadyyyy... one... two...
