This time I have been invited to model with a partner for an open-area life drawing session by a friend of mine.
That was not only extremely challenging, but, when looking to the picture and drawings from our performance, very rewarding.
Personally, this is somehow my very preferred moment: after modeling, looking at artist's view of me, it's really like looking through somebody's very mind (not somebody's eyes). It inspires me A LOT when, back to the "usual" side, I am drawing a model.
This is the magic of art to me: It open a crack in reality for the imagination to wander.
But gosh, all my muscle now cry for mercy. We weren't faking it. I dare not imagine how my amazing partner Vinci could handle her impressive poses.
...let's do that again soon.

english translation: A 1-page composition made from « all » the sketches when A was modeling.
Amazing performing model, she has a huge influence on the way I draw and bring me in some experiments I have no idea how I got there.
I had to abandon my favorite pink pencil before the end of the session, as I didn't have time to sharpen it. The 3 last sketches are basic paper pencil.
It's much more than « poses » she is holding, it's living paintings, statics-theater improvisations, which energy hits me in the face. I end up from those completely exhausted and confused.
God, I love that:)

Recently I had the chance and the privilege to work with amazing, passionate, creative, professional people that make me question "what is a life drawing model"? (including sub-question "What is the relationship between artist and model?)
I've been drawing with a model for more than a decade, but I'm still realizing that I don't have any answer to this previous question.
I'm so happy to realize that

I guess, this blog is also a way for me to write down those questions. Thanks to all of you for being my careful listeners.

a kids drawing's class offcut: officially robot drawing class, unofficially trying to teach them complementary colors and shading thingy.
They created the next "transformers meets Iron Man" artworks, so I draw a "useless, poorly-designed, rusty robot". Yet smiling.
(Have a look at
Mattias Adolfsson blog, and find out where the robot's look came from.)

Another montage of some quick sketches portraits in
Sifutthang @ TimeSquare and in the
Hong Kong Cultural Centre (facebook album links).
An event organized by Crystal Jane Wong, for true enjoyment of drawing in the street.
With my bad habit of using my sketchbook, I don't tear of the pages to "exhibit" my portraits.

I've been dying on this, overworking over and over, again and again. It's kinda ironic as I define myself as a "first touch" person.
I usually never "rework" my drawings, but here, it has been about the colors, the layout, the text and so... Asking my friends for review and proof-read, opinions, etc... I couldn't make up my mind and decide it was "ready".
Maybe because it's political, maybe because it's a kind of report, maybe this or that...
Anyway, no French version
YET, and still likely to be modified. Stay in touch, roger, roger.
comments and critics are welcome, that goes without saying.
btw, I had the change to discuss later with some of the performers, who explained to me many aspect of their performance. I did not inclued those explanations here
YET, it will probably be another post. My present drawing/report puts you in the situation I was, as a "naive" witness. Deal with it, that's the point
EDIT: some grammar mistakes corrected thanks to the help of Treblig and Mickey Joe. Thanks a lot for your help guys
