I'm still on my moron-mood, the most futile makes me angry. I'm really in a bad mood. The 2 women of my life has to pay the price of my attitude. Fortunately, one of them knows how to pretend not to understand me, the other one is bouddhist.
"what the? Where is my black pencil brush?"
"She...? But it smells..? She peed on my tax return..?"

At the same time, I read "Caravan" from Sfar, an astonishing paper-blog/diary.
"fuck!"
"fuck!"
"Say, kwailo, wasen't it YOUR turn to wash the dishes?"
("fuck")

Finally, I end drinkin' in a pub, complaining about myself and "redoing" the world
"See... I'm missssing a friend to t-talk about comics to... a sketching f-friend... Hips!"
"But in Hong Kong, there's NOTHING!"
"I'm just a f-fuckin' lonely Ass!"

Before I get completely drunk, I try to sketch the musicians, jamming on old blues/rock themes.
They told me they work in an ambassy in Barcelona, and went in Asia for vacations. I spend the night with them.

(He looks even more depressed as I am)

I sketch, I don't think anymore. I empty my head and my glass as well. I observe and re-create the universe in my sketchbook. I am God, do not mess with me.
I become misanthrope, and want to smoke.
Finally, the spectator's faces fascinate me. I drip my brush in my Guinness glass for the wash tint; the bartender laught and suggest a glass of Bayleys for drawing the shadows.

The last discussion, Tim tell us he spent 70 days in jail in South-Est Asia for drug dealing. We look at him just like he survived Midnight Express. He has such a strong accent, I can only understand 1 word on 20...

I finally go home at 1:00 AM, I diden't hear Waiyim's phone calls, she was about to ask the cops.
I really feel a moron.

PIF was right: the last TOOL's album is unbelievable!
And not only the music but the incredible 3D packaging is marvelous. I hope it will be an example to limit the savage P2P download and avoid the devilish DRMs.

No excuses: jump on it :headbang:

:headbang:

Since a few weeks, our friend Florence organize POEMS READING meetings in Hong Kong.

Without any pretention, she reads her poems in front of a very shy public.
She now ask me to "join" her readings playing my guitar, I'm playing Jazz, Flamenco, I put melodies on the rythm of her words (that I cannot understand)

More and more, people are coming and ask to participate, it's great to feel that they're interested.

People are so thirsty to express themselves, they want, they NEED spontaneous art.

Florence is a true hero to me.

Here are a few pictures of our last week performance.

Many thanks to Amanda, the "boss" of this place, who trust us and allow this kind of "futilities"

And I cannot listen to the CD.

I launch my audio player MUSIKCUBE.
I try to look up for the tracks:

I try a MP3 rip to put it on my MP3 player:

EDIT: news
Researcher: DRM Has Deep Flaws

DRM won't protect the music and film industries from illegal file sharing, researcher says.

Jeremy Kirk, IDG News Service
Monday, March 27, 2006

Digital rights management (DRM) technology has deep flaws despite the hope of content providers that encrypted files will deter illegal file sharing, a computer security researcher said Monday.

DRM is a catch-all term for a variety of methods used to limit content sharing. Techniques include digital encryption of songs and encoded limits on the number of times content can be accessed. But DRM technologies are far from foolproof, and the ones developed so far have been easily circumvented by adept hackers, said Ian Brown, a senior research manager at the Cambridge-MIT Institute in England.

DRM won't protect the music and film industries, which have spent the last decade lobbying for new laws to protect their content but neglected trying to find better ways to monetize their offerings, he said. Bands such as U2 and the Grateful Dead use their music more as a promotional tool, relying on touring and merchandise for revenue, he said.

"It's the business models that need changing, not the technology," said Brown, whose doctoral thesis in part covered DRM technologies. He spoke at the Changing Media Summit in London.

DRM technology is simple but making it work is difficult, Brown said. The data has to be decrypted to be used, and the "analog hole" remains--the ability for determined bootleggers to use a microphone or regular video camera to record content for posting on file-sharing networks.

So-called "watermarks"--instructions regulating the usage of the file that are invisible to the users--can be removed by a determined programmer, allowing them to post a file to a P-to-P (peer to peer) network, Brown said. The algorithms used for watermarks are still "primitive," Brown said.

DRM technologies may be most effective for time-based events where encryption would only have to hold for a short period, such as the broadcast of a live sports event, Brown said.

Closely Watched

The progression of DRM technology is closely watched. Music and film industry officials argue that DRM is crucial to preserving revenue in the face of piracy. Consumer advocates say DRM technologies can be too restrictive for consumers who legitimately paid for content and want to share it on several devices.

"Fundamentally, it's an anti-user technology," Brown said. "It's a technology that allows content owners to provide data to their customers with restrictions on how they can use it that aren't justified by copyright law.

Microsoft is incorporating features into its next-generation OS, Windows Vista, to take advantage of DRM capabilities of TPM (trusted platform module) chipsets. TPM chip sets have the capability to store the keys, passwords, or certificates attached to DRM-enabled files and only allow decoding by authorized users.

France is debating legislation that would require companies developing DRM technologies to provide enough information so other companies can make interoperable systems. Apple Computer has lashed out at the measure, saying it will encourage music piracy.

Magnatune

, , ,

No doubt, you´ll smile when reading this post but I discovered the MUSIC MAGNATUNE WEBSITE, and I must confess, I´m addicted !

I cannot believe how great quality artist you can find there.
But, most important, they really respect their artists:

We're a record label.
But we're not evil.

We call it "try before you buy." It's the shareware model applied to music. Listen to over 500 complete MP3 albums by our musicians (not 30 second snippets). If you like what you hear, download an album for as little as $5 (you pick the price), or buy a real CD, or license our music for commercial use.

There is no copy protection (DRM) on our music, ever. Artists keep half of every purchase. And unlike most record labels, they keep all the rights to their music.

This is the point that made me defenitly a fan of their website.

And considering that you can download the music either in MP3, OGG or WAW (CD quality) and event the album ARTWORK, there´s no difference between buying a real CD.

(oh, in fact there is: you can also decide how much you want to pay your music: from 5 to 18 dollars or euros): half of the price directly goes to the artist... My, my, if only it was a ¨must¨ for all music labels.):zip:

I recommand BETH QUIST(world/indian) and EHREN STARKS (Jazz) (my favourites)

And for he musicians, please listen to CURANDERO, track number 3 Segue , it´s a killing syncopated song, with indian tablas, bass slap and flamenco guitar... WOW ! !:yikes:
