PM Nguyen Tan Dung said within the 3 rd summit, acmecs members discuss on agricultural development to ensure the farmers lives.
There is one initiative to form a rice export consortium with 5 acmecs members. The initiative is assigned to members’ ministers in charge to study more.
Within CLMV cooperation, the 4 members are in the same level of development. CLMV members have exchanged experience in agricultural production, technology and experience to ensure food-security.
ACMECS members have strength in rice production, and play a certain role in world food security.
“World trade volume for rice is about 22 to 23 million tons per annum. ACMECs members only account for more than half of the volume. For example, Thailand export volume is 8 mln ton, Vietnam is about 5 million tons”, said Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
The Premier of ACMECS 3 hosting country also emphasises that, the rice consortium is about to enhance cooperation and sharing experience between the countries members in rice production & export, the consortium will not be the one that speculate, neither to control the world rice price that may harm the world economy integration./.
