Company tour : Garuda Indonesia (part 2)

After visiting some of the companies subsidiaries/departments/SBUs on Thursday, we were given the chance to visit some more on friday 
The first visit was to GMF (Garuda Maintenance Facilities), a subsidary of Garuda Indonesia that handles aircrafts maintenance. GMF handles the maintenance of Garuda Indonesia's aircrafts and also other aircrafts that needs its services. We were given a shor tour of the hangars, lots of aircrafts parked there. I never seen a real life plan that close . Lack of duration made us have to tour using the bus thus unable to touch the aircrafts 
. But the staffs there promised in the future when we are an official Garuda Indonesia employee, we will be given a chance to look around a bit closer and probably touch some 
After GMF, we visit ACS (Aerowisata Catering Services), another subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia that handles the airline food for Garuda Indonesia and other airlines. I have the impressions that Americans hate airline foods, but seeing, tasting some, and hearing from my family that has flown using Garuda Indonesia, i can say that the food is pretty damn good! I was given the tour of their kitchen and wow it was so clean and well controlled
the storage of the food is handled well and i also entered the freezer room (-15C) 
Next we visited Strategic Business Unit : Cargo. We saw how the unit handles cargos, exports and imports and how they handles dangerous goods etc. The cargo unit needs some computerization though, another job for the IT department!
