Need your opinion.

Hi. I'm passionate about photography and I saw an OLYMPUS OM10 that I liked very much. Do you think it's a good camera? Should I buy it? Hope you can help me. Thanks.

I saw some tests also including this camera. there were two or three cameras about the same price being better graded than the OM10.

At the moment im using a very old nikon fm camera. despite the fact it isnt digital and full manual, the photos easily compete with ones from expensive modern cameras.

I have 2 quick comments from back in the day. The first is when I was an art student in LA. The instructor showed some slides from each of 2 unidentified cameras. The best shots came from a drugstore disposable camera. The others from cameras costing substantially more. The second is from when I had shots using a Leica and a lesser model. I sent some prints from each to Popular Photography. Their guy couldn't tell the difference at 10x maginification. My point: it's not the camera, it's the person behind it. Save your money...use your talent.

I have until recently used Olympus cameras (i.e. Pen F, OM1, OM2 Spot and OM4) for over 30 years and found them all to be reliable. However when buying 2nd hand you should be able to pick up a bargain at the right price. But I would feel happier to be able to put a film through the camera and give it a good inspection also. Because its too late when the money has parted from you.
I am a member of a photographic club here in Northern Ireland, my friends can't give film cameras away because of the digital boom which to be fare has a lot more versatility.
So do you want an OM10 because its a classic or to take photos or both?
I settled for a bridge camera about a year ago, it is a
Casio Exilim Ex-P600 with 2 year guarantee, which suits me fine. I can put it in my pocket or pouch without carrying loads of gear around.
I have only started my site so it wont be for viewing just yet.
So decide what suits you personaly and go for it.
Good Luck with whatever you decide.
Michael
