My Opera is closing 3rd of March

The Chronicles.

Revolution in a country garden.

Entry number two. - There's nothing I can do.

"It's painful when you have some people who are not the best people in the world and you have to get rid of them ... but nonetheless it has to be done and it is never fun."

That's what Steve Jobs said about people he works with. But it was easy for him. Not the best man in the whorld? Whooo! "You're fired!" And that's it. But things can be worse than this. Sometimes you have some people who are not only "not the best people in the world". They are, probably, the worst people in the world. And moreover, there's nothing you can do about it - you have to study with them. That's my case. My groupmates are stupid.

Well, they are not exactly stupid like "I think that 2+2=5". It's more of an attitude. Looks like nobody wants to study, they have no interest at all. They dont give a fuck. A discussion to boost our language skills in conversation, expressing opinion? Yes? NO. Everybody stays silent. Not a damn single word. Nobody's done their homework? Same thing. In my previous group we were really discussing things. Here it seems that we are slowly becoming retards... I really feel that my skill in English has fallen down a level compared with the previous year.

And this slowly drives me mad... day by day...

The only escape is Internet. Visiting English web-sites, watching movies. I hope it helps. I can but hope.

Entry number one. - The blog can see the sun.Entry nuber three. - Don't ask me.

wow, i understand you! no damn wish from them just to try and learn something scared i don't know why they've chosen this very department if they're not able to understand languages.. at least they seem non-understanding right
i don't feel like i'm making a progress in french, but i'm sure i'm loosing my english and that is sooooo bad cry
you're right, the only way not to forget the language is internet etc., but i miss oral communication knockout

btw, what department are you studying at? smile

Your English is fine. Better than my swedish and I've been living here for more than six years.

to Sojka:

Cool that you understand me. =) I'm studying at the English department and have German as a second language. It's fourth year now, but can you believe it, those talks about loosing English began already in the first one! looks like all those clever people (not like my groupmates) knew English better in school than they do now. Isn't university supposed to boost our language skills? confused Funny, huh... or maybe not...

And hell, we have a great teacher in German this year. I can only wish we had one like her in English as well...

fourth year is great ) for me it's only the second year but i already feel like quitting scared
and my first lang is french, the second is english and the third one is spanish smile
loosing english..maybe it's because we've started to "learn" it form the ABC, and i just forget those clever words which i've known before, when i eas at school, and which i don't have a possibility to use in my everyday student life..
+ the great minuse (as for me) is that our teacher decided to take a STUPID text book..maybe you know, written by Bonk (a soviet prof.).. and there're texts about collective farms, communists, pioneers ans Comrade Petrov bigsmile bigsmile well i can't be serious when reading these texts lol
she doesn't want to take some modern british text book 'cos she thinks it's not good for studying from the very beginning...
maybe she's right.. i can't remember now how i began to learn english, i was 5 then so it was a long long time ago bigsmile

but what i can say is that your english is good and as my tutor likes to tell me - don't worry, you'll have your chance with your english smile

how do you like German? i used to study it some years ago, but last year had to make a break because of the French.. i miss it and want to continue studying it in some time.. smile

p.s. why have you decided to enter this department? i wonder if ppl really want to be teachers or philologists or they enter this dep. i don't know for what purposes ))

merlin!pintavodki Thursday, November 20, 2008 1:18:10 AM

Ha-ha, Comrade Petrov! lol That's funny. bigsmile It reminds me of one funny thing I have found on the Internet.bigsmile Have you seen it? You better be glad that you don't have textbooks like this! wink And thanks god, we don't have such old textbooks as you do, ours are rather new British ones. Must be really funny for you to have communists, pioneers and stuff there.

And German is great. I really like it. In fact, I even changed my group to syudy German (they were giving us Swedish in that other one and I don't like it (or need it as I already know Norwegian)). So, now I enjoy my decision and learn everything I can. smile Ja, ja! Ich studiere Deutsch!! knight btw, why have you chosen French as your 1st lanfuage, not English?

I'm studying at the English department, but in an interpretation group. So I guess it quite explains everything. Don't know about ppl wanting to be teachers or philologists, but being a transalator is quite funny for me. =))

кто вы?
я молодой ударник.
lol lol
poor ppl to have such textbooks )

swedish, norwegian.. we don't have these lang at our department. there are only eng, german, french, spanish, greek, italian, romanian and..i guess that's all.
our chair of german is really good, 'cos our deen is a prof of german bigsmile so those students have a possibility to go to germany, they have different exchanges, competitions etc.
we (i mean french) don't have such things.. =( french isn't popular as for me..it's not the 19th century in russia bigsmile bigsmile

why have i chosen french? good question ) it happened accidentally right i didn't want to enter this department at all, i wanted (and i want) to be a film-director and i was planning to enter the univ in kiev, but life has its own plans..

oh ) intepretation.. now i see )))) there're many boys at this chair ))) i wanted to be an interpreter when i was a child ))) i even remember how i tried to translate some songs with the help of my dictionary.. it's very funny for me now, but then it was so difficult bigsmile

merlin!pintavodki Monday, November 24, 2008 12:14:39 AM

ho-ho, can you really add "only" to "eng, german, french, spanish, greek, italian, romanian"? Sounds like heck of a lot different languages!! I'd really like to learn greek or romanian, it would be nice to go to Greece then and understand everything, spend some time there =))

facebook.com/crepe.aucitronSojka Monday, November 24, 2008 7:31:06 PM

yes, only, because we don't have norwegian or swedish for example.. but maybe you don't have some of those lang we have?
i want to know so many languages that it can be really difficult for me to choose which of them to learn.. z.B. i'd like to learn japanese, portuguese, italian, hungarian and many many others ))
i also have this crazy idea - to know every language that represents my nationality smile *i'm a person of 7 nationalities bigeyes bigsmile * so if i want to do this, i'll have to work reaaaally hard bigsmile and to develop my memory..
perhaps i'll have the giant brain then lol (you know, like some Doctor Evil from some american cartoon alien )
