Where I am.

So, I've just decided to write a few lines about my whereabouts and stuff. You've probably niticed already that there were no posts on this blog. That's not because I've decided to abandon it. No, I was just very busy at the university, becase I had to pass my exams ahead of schedule in order to do what I wanted to do - go to the Solovki (also known as Solovetsky Islands) and work as a guide.
So now I'm posting from a not-so-large (only 300 sq.km) archipelago in the White Sea, the place where one of the greatest Russian monasteries was built as far back as in 1436: Solovetsky Monastery. And then during the Soviet times (the 1920s and 30s) a camp for prisoners was organised here. But now the monastery is restored and any tourists come here every summer to visit it, to touch the ancient fortress walls and to take a tour round the islands to enjoy their marvellous nature.
So I'm working here as a guide second summer in a row. And that's uber cool.
My speciality is nature, not history, so I do boat tours along the lake system with beautiful canal system, bus trips to some nice and distant parts of the island and some more!! We are living in a house built specially for the guides, so there are 16 of us living here and having fun!! So you are welcome to visit these astonishing islands if you have a chance!!
P.S. The internet here is very slow and expensive (we are lucky just to have it!!
), so I can't post any photo now, but believe me, I have some!!
