What's paella? Is it good? I hope it's good, since you'll be eating it...

Hi Amy, good to have you back! Well, to answer your question, paella is a rice dish, cooked in a shallow, flat pan (as you can see in the picture), with vegetables and either chicken/rabbit or fish..It can also be vegetarian, with more vegetables. All ingredients are boiled together with the rice until the water has evaporated and then the rice has absorbed all the taste of the ingredients. Very tasty and delicious if one likes rice :D

By sugarwinx, # 8. July 2007, 05:39:31

It has to be fresh, can't bring it really, can make it though  Read some post before what it is.

By pkmink, # 8. July 2007, 10:42:14

avatar
It's of Spanish origin...

Oh, According to Wikipedia, it's the dish that is rice. I've had rice before in a Spanish restaurant... That must be paella!!!! :hat:

Gee... I've HAD paella before...

By sugarwinx, # 8. July 2007, 12:48:56

avatar
Yes, it's the Spanish national dish more or less, many varieties, with fish or with meat, different kinds of veggies, but the base of rice always stays the same. Paella originates from Valencia, which happens to be the place where my wife comes from, and it's known for making the best and most authentic paella in Spain. :D

Amazing coincidence, that's what I made for dinner last night! We use the yellow rice (with saffron) and smoked sausage is really good in it.
