The Life and Musings of Maud Allbury - By Sarah Clegg

avast, ye scurrrrvey rats

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH

, , , ,

I just got this:

I had forgotten that last year I indicated which topics were potentially examinable. The point of the exam is to test your skills at commenting on sources rather than your memory, therefore it is pointless to have you revise every possible topic. Therefore, this year I shall do the same.

Topics potentially examinable in the Sources Exam

Section A

Canon Law – sources of law, structure of the court system, marriage

The legal and political importance of the Holy Roman emperor; the concept rex est imperator

The concept of the just war

The sea laws, the law of jettison

Sumptuary law and its enforcement

The writ system of English law; trial by ordeal

Section B

Legal humanism, including attitudes to ancient sources of Roman law

The impact of the Reformation on the law marriage

Early modern legal education and the legal profession

Institutional writing in Europe

The New World: including the legal arguments used to found territorial claims in the New World and slave laws in Colonial America.

It's less than a week until the goddam exam for a subject that I really fracking hate - since when has the whole bloody course not been examinable?????? I'VE ALREADY REVISED SEVERAL POINTLESS TOPICS. GRR.

I repeat:

PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN HOW TO GIVE PEOPLE NOTICE OF THINGS.

Grumble GrumbleFoot fetish gone awry?

Yes. This is stupid.
Like our:
"Every year for the last four years there has been a question on Edinburgh and Dublin. I can't tell you what is in the exam, but use your common sense."

Actual question:
"outline the differences in, reasons for and consequences of levels of state control of architectural and physical developement in early modern LONDON AND PARIS."

erm, no.

Dr Bell - "When I coughed after saying 'local government', I didn't mean there WOULD be a question on it, I meant that there WOULDN'T be."

Why thank you for those wise words, "Anonymous". If only that extremely overused statement that one should simply take some imaginary pill to "chill" your anguish actually solved life's irritations eh? That would surely make the world a more pleasant place
