Early Morning Blues

Early morning, I’m awake… with all my energy renewed
Think I’ll have corn flakes in a bowl & watch my reflection in the milk
Flick on the news; shells rain on cities but its quiet in this living room
Thinking of ways to waste the day, while I wait for you.
I’d hit the mall but I’ll bump into ‘friends’ I really don’t wanna talk to
I’d sing a song, a really sad tune, if my neighbour would stop listening
I’d “have my cake and eat it too” though I think I’m allergic to icing
Maybe I should just give up hope... but I like her storytelling.
Fog settles in my mind. Clouds can be pretty... or unkind.
Ashamed to tell anyone I’m blind & need help to navigate
Where is my compass!? My North Star!?… This promised estate of mine!
Where is the one whose opinion I’d value? Her advice I’ll take to heart.
Make the dream take defined shape before the night arrives!
It’s still morning; examine me; peer into my eyes.
A state of emergency is my dawn and waiting is no fun.
Turn shades of blue to emerald hues if you feel like giving life.
