Type of the ONLY FOUR DAYS TO MY BIRFDAI: Flying

Yes, Flying. Flying is a really interesting type, for several reasons. Mainly, it has no Pokémon that fall solely under its type, but has been teamed up with every type other than fighting, making Flying Pokémon a very varied type.

And they fly. All teams designed for beating the game with have a flying Pokémon in, because walking/ cycling sucks.

Type Effectiveness
Flying type attacks are super effective against Bug, Grass and Fighting, but are ineffective against Rock, Steel, and Electric. Nothing too special there.

The Pokémon themselves are rather special- they resist Bug, Fighting and Grass, making them a good choice against those types all-round, and are weak to Rock, Electric and Ice. What's really special, though, is their complete immunity to Ground attacks. Which is of fantastic use against your silly little EQ-whoring cousin.

Well, mine.

Attacks
Of Flying Type's 18 attacks, 13 of them are damage-dealing-4 special, and 9 physical, making Flying an overall physical type.
Aerial Ace is a useful move, that many Pokémon can learn. Its power is only 60, but it never misses.
Aeroblast is the most powerful Special Flying move, with 100 power, 95% accuracy, and an increased chance of a physical hit. A pretty good move overall, really.
Air Cutter, another Special, is the only Flying type attack to hit both enemies, but has a mere 55 power.
Sky Attack is the most powerful Flying move, with 140 power. It takes a turn to charge up, but it can cause flinching, and has a high critical hit ratio.
Fly is a Hidden Machine move, that isn't really neccisary, but incredibly useful. In battle, the user flies up, making it invincible to most attacks, for one turn, then attacks with 90 power.

Mirror Move is a pretty useful attack that mimics the user's last move. It requires a bit of strategy, and prediction, but the surprise can be useful.
Roost is a HP-restoring attack, that returns half the user's maximum HP. It also removes the user's flying type for a turn, making it vulnerable to ground attacks, etc. I guess that's why there are no just Flying Pokémon- they have to do something when they land.

Right, now I want to save this as a draft, but I can't find the button for it. >.>

Pokémon

He's a starter Pokémon, and he flies... ya.

These are the token flying Pokémon you catch at the beginning and keep with you because you can't be bothered getting other Flying Pokémon. They're all Normal.

I've never understood what's so awesome about Farfetch'd. It's not that good, it just looks awesome. And it has an apostraphe in its name.

I really think Gyarados should be Dragon instead of flying, but it isn't.
Pretty decent, really- it makes up for its infamously bad basic Pokémon stage by gaining some admirable moves at very low levels.

Rock and Flying, and insanely physical. It can only be gained by reviving the Old Amber

Crobat, a Poison Pokémon, is notable mainly for its family being the most annoying in the Pokémon series, since they're so common in caves, and often inescapable due to their speed.

Skarmony, being Steel, has a massive 140 base defence. Combined with huge amounts of resistances, and no weaknesses to physical-based types, it's often thought of as the best way to beat physical enemies.

Not sure if I had Vespiqueen in when I did bug... a really weird Pokémon, since it controls hoards of Combees. Oddly, Vespi means Wasp, despite it being a bee, while Beedrill is a wasp.

Yanmega is one of the better Bug Pokémon, with high Special Attack. Perfect for those Special Flying moves I just mentioned...

Legendaries

Fire, Ice and Electricity- Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos. The legendary trio of Red, Blue, and Yellow. None of them are uber, but they're still pretty strong.

Lugia And Ho-Oh were the boxart Pokémon of Pokémon Gold and Silver. They're Psychic and Fire types, respectively, and are obviously forces to be reckoned with. Their signature moves are Aeroblast and Sacred Fire. Ho-Oh was the first Generation II Pokémon ever seen, as it appeared at the end of the anime's first episode. Although Ash, being the idiot he is, later identified it as an Articuno.

Who's that Pokemon ?Who's that Pokemon ?

You know, Arceus with the flying plate is pure flying type. Can it learn Roost? If so, that'd be weird.
