Sam discovers grass! And loves it!

After a snow blizzard nothing like having the Sun warm you up again... and that's what's happened this past weekend.

We just forgot all the housekeeping chores we had planned this Sunday and took Sam to the gardens in Belem (Lisbon).

There he met with grass on a large scale and was able to roll around on it, he loved it so much!

Here are some videos (watch with QuickTime or RealPlayer).

Last Saturday (Christmas Eve) morning Sam woke up, playful as ever. It was almost as if he knew what he was in for later in the evening...

"Ba" seems to be his favorite sound these days, but he has also been partial to "Ta" and "Pa" and "Ma"... and even said Mama once or twice but had his boot and not myself in mind...

A bit later the same morning here is Samuel in his toy island... now more like a toy continent!

I am greatly pleased that the toys I chose for him were of his liking! As, I am sure, those of you with small toddlers know, sometimes - mostimes even - a child finds the paper wrapping far more interesting than the cute, colourful and expensive toy you bought... leaving you somewhat frustrated!

The presents were:
  1. a toy activity table with a construction set;
  2. a walker with sounds and holes to put shapes through;
  3. a play steering wheel with a rear-view mirror, horn, gear shift handle and lots more;
  4. a farm-house with sound and music, clicking on a button makes the sound of the animal, etc...
  5. a huge plush camel he can sit astride and pull on the reins;
  6. a soft plastic construction set with a tractor and toy farmer, dog, cow and horsey;
  7. a cute little airman and his plain

Sammy's first Christmas was spent in his Grandma's (my mother) home, even though since Bruno and I have been married Christmas' Eve has always been in our home (we have more space and a lovely fireplace).

However, this year mostly because of my great-aunt's decaying health it was decided we would gather at my mother's - this way avoiding moving aunt Lourdes around too much and at night.

Sam's other grandma (Bruno's mom) is still a bit on the down side as well, she came down with a serious case of the flu and, as always, only decided it was time to see a doctor when things had gotten the worst they could have... She is doing better today, but was too sick to come to Christmas lunch at my mother's as was previously planned!
