Stay on top of Twitter with Twiget

Twitter addicts rejoice! The Twitter Opera widget gives you an easy way to tweet and check your twitter feed without opening a browser.

After some time in the works, Opera Widgets has finally released Twiget - the Twitter Widget.

Twiget makes it a snap to tweet and stay up to date with your Twitter feed. A simple interface gives you all the functionality you need for your daily Twittering right at your fingertips, without having to start or run a browser. (Since new versions of Opera treat widgets like standalone applications).

Twiget allows you to:

  • Quickly enter tweets
  • Show new tweets at a configurable interval
  • Adjust the number of tweets viewed from 40 to 200
  • See your direct messages, and messages @ you
  • Favorite, retweet, or reply to tweets

Update:
Twiget has been recently updated to version 4.3! There are many new features and bugfixes including:

  • Reduced CPU usage and faster operation
  • Support for twitpic images inline
  • Delete buttons for tweets
  • Character counter
  • URL shortener integration (ie. with bit.ly)
  • Search

Even with all of those improvements, our developers are still working hard to make it even better!

Grab it now and give it a try! It's totally free, of course!

Cool!

What we thought was discontinued.
Thanks for the information, and most especially to the Widgets Team.

Twiget still hogs a lot of CPU when the widget itself is minimized. Also if I click on a link someone tweeted in Twiget it does not open a page in any browser and I have to right click to copy and paste the link. sad BTW I am using Mandriva Linux 2010.1 GNOME
