ONE REALITY

One Reality:

Into the bosom of the one great sea
Flow streams that come from hills on every side
Their names are various as their springs,
And thus in every land do men bow down
To one great God, though known by many names.
- A South Indian folksong. (The Folks Songs of Southern India By Gover 1871 p. 165)

FAITH AND BELIEF

Faith and Belief

A man of faith, absorbed in faith, his senses controlled, attains knowledge, and, knowledge attained, quickly finds supreme peace. But the ignorant man, who is without faith, goes doubting to destruction. For the doubting self there is neither this world, nor the next, nor joy.
- Bhagavad Gita 4.39-40

"If men thought of God as much as they think of the world, who would not attain liberation (moksha)."
- Maitri Upanishad 6.24.

Right or wrong
Joy or sorrow
These are of the mind only,
They are not yours.
You are everywhere,
Forever free.
- Ashtavakra Gita.

LIFE

Life:
"Life is a bridge, enjoy while crossing but don't build a castle on it."
- Upanishads.

"Do good deeds with a sense of urgency, Before death's approaching rattle strangles the tongue.

What wondrous greatness this world possesses that yesterday a man was, and today he is not."
— From the Tirukural, 335-36

BLUE JEANS ORIGINATED FROM INDIA

That ,which has become a symbol to Western mode of life,
That which appears as armour to modern man,

That which got cemented to the present day human body as an inseperable textile bond, is "BLUE JEANS".

In the 16th century, in the port city of Bombay (India) at the famous Dongre fort, thick Indian cloth was purchased by Portuguese. That was the birthday of Blue Jeans.

In Hindi language "DONGRE" means a thick cotton cloth. This cloth was dyed in Indigo colour and was sold to foriegn traders. Since then it was called Blue denim or Blue jeans.

The very colour indigo is an Indian invention. This colour is named after India. Greeks called it Indicon and in Latin it is called 'Indicom', Which means a product of India.

East India Company was the largest purchaser of this dye Indicom from India since the end of 16th century.

The Gujarat and Sindh province had largely exported Indian dyed cloth to European countries. By the 19th century, Bengal province turned to be the largest exporter of this Indicom dyed cloth.

Indian talents in textile technology stand unique and are eternally displayed in colours that were dyed on the cloth, quality of fabric, mix of texture etc.
