Photo Blog Holiday Contest Vote

, , ,

The My Opera team would like to thank all for the creative stories submitted for this contest

Now it's time to determine a winner. There has been some discussion about the validity of an open poll. Because we want the community - and not Opera - to determine the winner, we came up with a solution that both protects the integrity of the competition, and reflects the true intent of the community. So, instead of having a poll we've created a separate page.

We agree that a public poll might affect the final result (and to keep some of the excitement going), we've created a form to be used exclusively for voting.

To cast your vote, and view the submissions, click here.

The winner will be announced on Friday, January 12th.

Same here. Btw I think they will consider just one vote for each user; if it is for the same entry. The problem is: what if one user votes for various entries? I suppose, they will consider the first one as "true".

Quite easy. First vote counts. We obtain each and every My Opera username, and carefully excess moderation on each vote.

Believe me, after much back and forth, we feel this is the best fairest way to do it.

Remember: This is the first time we've used a community vote to determine a winner, and we did not expect it to go flawlessly. We have learnt a great deal, which will be taken into consideration if we decide to do something similar in the future.

And as I said in the top post

Because we want the community - and not Opera - to determine the winner, we came up with a solution that both protects the integrity of the competition, and reflects the true intent of the community.

All feedback has been noted, and we feel this has been a new and exciting take on how to arrange a contest.
