Håkon gives an estimate
Håkon Wium Lie, Chief Technology Officer of Opera Software, will tell us how long the Web will last. The talk will be in English. Håkon may be best known for originally proposing Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and being an author of the Acid 2 and Acid 3 tests. He's also been active in a number of other topics like typography on the Web and handling video, and standards and technology feuds like ODF vs OOXML.
Interview: CSS was created to save HTML
As an extra hardware bonus an XO laptop (the One Laptop Per Child device) will be at attendance at the meeting.
The meeting will be held at the Seven Wolves, Vlkova 7, Žižkov, Monday May 12 from 18:00 on. The easiest way to get there is by tram 5, 9, or 26 at the Husinecká stop (one stop beyond the Main Railway Station). There is a slightly longer walk from the metro station Jiřího z Poděbrad (or the 11 tram).
český: Martin má taký informaci o schůzce
Rozhovor: CSS jsme vytvořili, aby zachránilo HTML

The idea is very simple. Once a month people in Prague that care about the Web meet and socialise. The format is half an hour or an hour with a talk and discussion, the rest will be social activities which at least in my case is going to include beer drinking and incessant talking.

In short: The future of the Web. How can the present Web be better for more people more of the time. This is for the short official part of the program, afterwards people can talk about and do whatever they please.
Topics could, and probably will, include organisations and activities like the Web Standards Project or accessibility, standards under development like HTML5, SVG, CSS2.1 and CSS3, microformats, Voice, Canvas, or Video, usability and user interaction.
The format could be talks or discussions, with or without props like overhead projections and the like. Generally the less lighter and more informal format, the better, but e.g. a talk on SVG would probably need some audiovisual assistance...

The first meeting will be at
kafárna Na kus řeči,
Bezručovy sady 1 Thursday February 7 at 18:00. It is easiest to get there by tram 10 or 16 to Vinohradská vodárna, but metro station Jiřího z Poděbrad and the Krymská stop (trams 4, 22, 23) are also nearby.
The program will be mercifully short. An introduction to this society at its very first meeting, by yours truly, followed by a short talk on adaptive content a.k.a.
When What You See Is What You Get Is Not What You Want by some Jonny Axelsson from Opera Software.
