We are affected by the issue discussed here:

note that this bug is a Flash/Gtk/GLib issue, but unfortunately hits us because with the currently stable version of Flash we offer the Xt mainloop and that means that the wrapper is not Gtk. Note also that this affects OpenOffice and Konqueror with Flash aswell.

Hi,
I'm using Opera 9.23 on my MacBook where I use OS X, Ubuntu Feisty and Sidux (based on Debian Sid with KDE) as OSes.
I get this operapluginwrapper problem very frequently in Sidux ONLY on this machine. It's almost at the stage where I've considered changing to Firefox in Sidux because of this annoyance.
When it happens (particularly in iGoogle and Gmail), the screen freezes and turns darker and grey. This lasts for 10-15 seconds and then things revert to normal (for a while at least).
OK, so this is a bug but is there no workaround I can use to minimise the problem?

Currently I would advise you to try the new Opera Alpha :

were this is currently worked around - rumour has it the Ubuntu people have chosen to patch their gtk to get around the problem, but they were not the only ones with the problem - their users just complained first. I do hope you continue to use Opera - and the Alpha has a lot of new cool features aswell (note especially the performance) - but it is an alpha after all...

OK, I installed Opera 9.50 in Sidux and the operapluginwrapper problem I had in 9.23 is completely gone. So, Opera is now usable in Sidux.
Additionally, 9.50 really seems just a shade more responsive than 9.23 although I would prefer to wait a little longer before drawing a definite conclusion on this.

Like all alphas it has it's share of issues - but I for one will not go back - I'm spoiled now.

In the currently current build 1652 I have the phenomenon with .48 that flv streams are cut off a few seconds in, with the plugin dieing. Besides the frequent/freak crashes, of course.
Is this still known/expected behaviour, or have I borked my Opera? Sucks somewhat not being able to check your bugzilla status.

1652 has a lot of plugin issues, upcoming builds will probably have even more

we are in deep development of this right now - so the state of plugins on unix will be unstable for a little while longer.
