It has been one of those dirty dreary March days. You know the kind, when the snow is melting into puddles of muddy goo. Everything is so grimey and dirty until spring comes. It will be at least 6 weeks before things turn green and the mud dries up. I look forward to working outside and that will come in the next week, as the ground thaws and the snow disappears.
My daughter will soon graduate from college. I am so proud of her for her hard work at school, a job and child raising. Last week we went to her theme dinner that she had to do for a graduation project. It was a great meal and everyone enjoyed it, and my daughter received an "A" for the project. She is interviewing for jobs now and will soon be leaving to make her mark on the world. This will be a very hard day as I'm not sure how I will do without her and my granddaughter. I sort of define myself as a Pop Pop now, and without them I'm not sure how I will see myself then.
Soon I will get my shell out of drydock and head back to the lake to begin skulling again. Rowing is a defining activity for me. It is the ultimate sport, combining force and balance in perfect combination. There is nothing like a bright sunny day with the sun glinting off the water, AC-DC pounding in your ears, and the oars slapping the water. I can't wait. Rowing in the gym gets very old.
