I've been playing Super Tux Kart recently!

This is an opensource clone of a popular go-cart racing game! . Need I say more? .
You will need hardware 3D acceleration to play this great game. But even my puny netbook can handle it! .
It's fun, it's addictive and it runs on Linux! .
Both Keyboard and Joystick controls are supported. I recommend that you use an analogue Joystick though since proportional control is supported! .
So collect that Nitro and mind the Banana Peels! .
