That's my ftp site. I've been trying to upload a 19MB file (g-zipped down to 13MB now) I almost succeeded on MTN, but I ran out of airtime. Vodacom won't clear more than 3MB before dropping my connection. As soon as my salary comes in, I'm switching to MTN permanently. I can't live without 3G any longer! scared. A2 (oh, and I'm using Mobyexplorer)

In this case it's just a matter of Vodacom markets their services to the corporate market. So their good infrastructure is in the major cities. MTN and Cell C are more geared towards the poor majority, so their infrastructure is less advanced as a rule, but tends to be more advanced in semi rural areas like the town where I stay. They can't compete with Vodacom, but they can win market share by filling in the gaps that Vodacom chooses to ignore. If Vodacom ever became serious about increasing their 3G coverage and spreading into less developed areas, the other two networks would be finnished. They'd have no chance to compete. (bear in mind that 40% of Vodacom is owned by Telcom, our national landline provider. And about 50% is owned by Vodafone, the internation mobile phone warlords. scared)
