Roommate From Hell!

,

I think I am destined to be miserable when it comes to my living situations, because so far as an adult -in exception of the time I spent with Tori- I haven't been all that happy.

And now that I am living with my latest roommate, David, I think this is the worst situation out of them all. I did have another roommate - Trula - but she has recently moved out.

Back to David... He smokes for one thing. I don't. Well, *cough*, at least not cigarettes anyway. P: I quit smoking cigarettes when I was 20. Anyway, yeah, it is not keen to have the smell of cigarette smoke lingering around the entire apartment - especially when you're a former smoker. It's been tempting me to start smoking again and I definitely DO NOT want to do that.

Another thing - he has his own bedroom - but he refuses to acknowledge its existence. Instead, he chooses to use the living room closet for his clothing and belongings and sleep out on the couch instead of his bed, because it's apparently more "comfortable". Well, it's not good to me because he leaves his shit all over the living room as well as the dining room, including his plates and cups from when he gets done eating. Also his dirty socks are always left out by the couch. Ew. You can't tell me that that right there isn't nasty as hell. P..U!!!!! I have had several complaints from my friends when coming over - saying that they are smelling nothing but dirty feet. How do you think that makes ME feel???? I am embarrassed to have people over because of this. It mortifies me. Well, this weekend, I got tired of the living room closet reeking, sooo ... I emptied its contents and threw it all into his unused bedroom and later told him he needed to do his endless amount of nasty ass dirty laundry. Now the closet is spotless and vaccummed out. He didn't seem mad about it when he found out. I just can't seem to get rid of his... odor as well as the cig smoke. I febreze the hell out of the apartment very often and still it's like it doesn't help.

He is an utter slob, as mentioned above. I seem to be the only one that cleans and tries to give a crap about the apartment. I am a total neat freak. I am always complaining about his sloppiness/nastiness. What in the hell did I get myself into? He leaves his deodorant with its cap left off on the bathroom counter as well as his cologne and shaving cream and razors. Also he never seems to want to wash towels. He DOESN'T PUT THE TOILET SEAT DOWN, didn't he grow up with at least one woman in his life? Errrr, I am so infuriated. I wish I would have checked him out more before I had moved in with him. Just to let you all know, I am NOT romantically involved with him - wanted to make that clear as glue.

With my income taxes I had planned on ... "pimping" out my car some more, but now - I am at my wit's end. I have decided to move out somewhere by myself with the money instead. I told David last week I cannot live with him in the way he lives, that I want out. He is mad but oh well, heh.

He likes to leave unnecessary lights on too, as well as turning up the heat, and so did the other old roommate, Trula, so now of course we are stuck with expensive electric bills.

Also we have been having problems with break-ins, and David doesn't seem to care enough to get the locks changed.

He has totally ruined my aspect of ever living with a guy again. At least with a straight guy, anyway. I am never going to marry unless its someone like Mr. Clean, only cuter! My gay friend Corey cleans and cooks just fine but he is currently unemployed so that doesn't help, lol. I would rather just get my own place anyway. I am tired of picking up after other people; smelling cigarette smoke; getting my space invaded, and so on.

Well that's all for now. Going to go hang out with Corey and avoid David some more.. thanks for reading my horror story! P: If only it WAS all fiction....

Well, there goes my youth....

My bad housemates include a guy who my girlfriend and I had to teach how to cook canned soup, how to spend less than 50 quid on junk food per week and how to not tell the girls he somehow manages to date that they obey his rules or they're out. We know your pain.

A place of your own is the ultimate life solution in your case. Just don't give in to the loneliness that can appear and head back to sock boy. Geez, it's guys like him that give us all a bad name.

Lysol will never clean up an entire roommate... You could take him to a hypnotist show and get the hypnotist to program him with obsessive compulsive tendencies. :wizard:

Hehe... thanks for the laughs, support, and for the bad housemate history Furie.

The hypnotist show is a good idea. P: But unfortunately there is no such thing as a hypnotist where I reside! LOL. I live in a small city that a map of surrounding areas wouldn't even bother to publish as a dot on it. Just ask Tori!

Eh, I'm not quite so worried about it anymore, the idea of escaping him rather soon is keeping me sane.

He just got a $700 check, so he can buy the damn Lysol and debacterialize himself. P: lol... I really have had enough of being his maid! :frown:

Thanks again for the comments. Too funny! :D

No probs, keeping people teetering on the edge of insanity is my role in life. Getting them there is the hard part LOL Don't forget to teach the guy a lesson before ya leave. Replace the salt with itching powder or something. Anything that he'll assume is his fault and that teaches him that hygiene is kinda important.

Novelty shops when I was a kid. You can probably mail order it over the web now. Wonder if the mailman gets any warning about what he's carrying? Maybe one of those toxic signs on the package. :D
