Landmark Forum - Landmark Education in Chennai

This is the continuation of my previous post related to Landmark Forum - the self-realization program offered by Landmark Education.

After reading several sites and other stuffs, I lost interest in doing Landmark Forum. I don't see a point in sitting for 2 continuous days hearing that I am a "*erk" and someone breaking me away emotionally and psychologically. And finally that someone 'builds' a new me psychologically again. That's a risky deal I think. There are so many ways one can change their views about their self. Improve their self and produce amazing results. There are at least a dozen ways that are better than Landmark's brainwash style approach. Take for instance, Yoga, Dhyana, keeping focused, practising self-improvement techniques, time-management and being good to everyone etc etc.

Two weeks ago, I received a phone call from a chennai co-ordinator who volunteers for Landmark Forum. He asked for the remaining payment and my signed enrollment form for the upcoming session. I told him I got a big schedule for the whole month at work. So I cannot attend the session. But he didn't wanna let me hang my phone. He talked about the 'commitment' i made when I attended the first intro session and wanted to continue my commitment. Hearing this I was like - "what the *uck?? from where do these guys learn to talk like this??" and I firmly told him I will get back to him after a few days.

After a few days I received a call from Krishna who is a manager for LF working from Bangalore. With a nice accent he asked me the details of my referral, when did i attend, how do i feel about that etc etc. Then he jumped to the question that I haven't paid the money and haven't enrolled yet. I told him that I decided not to join Landmark Forum. Hearing that, he immediately switched his tone to more soft and more "counselor" like. He asked me to put aside all my idea, thoughts and invited me to have a "conversation" with him. I switched on the speakerphone and started listening.

The speech started off with a note about the commitment I had when enrolling and giving priority to it. As I told him that I have a business schedule that requires me 24x7 for the whole month, he talked about "commitment" again. He even asked me if something is outright serious.. will I attend the serious matter or attend the work. I told him that I will attend the serious matter first and adjust the work accordingly. "Well.. then missing a Landmark Forum is one such thing. You should replan your schedule accordingly" - he said.

Then I told him that Landmark Forum is not such a serious issue to miss. If not now, I can attend it when the next session comes up. Krishna again seemed to be frustrated, he started pressing the importance of LOVE and commitment I had .. I must have in my life and I cannot go away because the things around me take control of me and bla bla blaaa. After 40 minutes of dragging, finally Krishna Sulugodu of Landmark Education gave up and I hanged.

I informed my wife about the phone conversations and told her that I am not going to attend the Forum anyway. Three days back I received a final call from Krishna enquiring about whether I have re-evaluated my decision. I replied a firm "NO". The Krishna Sulugodu's tone changed to a harsh tone. "Rajesh. Here after when you make commitments, try to stick to that". I said "Thank you. I will" and I hanged up.

I started laughing out. Paying a Rs.2000 advance is not a commitment. When do guys like Krishna will learn talking real-business?

All right. Krishna's aim was pure business. He has to convert two leads into contacts (as we speak in CRM terms) and he miserably failed in that. That makes a total loss of Rs.12000 in the estimated forecast for Landmark Education. Well they will definitely make that money with their talks and making those poor chaps who are attending the seminar in chennai now, to bring more and more people into Landmark Forum.

Here is the email I received from Krishna.
