Mobile User Experience - Nokia 6233i
I bought a new Nokia 6233i yesterday. The user experience was pretty much similar to the Series 40 OS that is bundled with the regular nokia phones. But still, it had some interesting usability issues. For example, the Message editor is brand new and it has an interesting issue.
Normally, in the old edition Series 40, the message editor works in the following fashion.
Screen 1 : Select COMPOSE MESSAGE
Screen 2 : Type your message and Press the button assigned to "SEND"
Screen 3 : Scroll down to select from the phone book, or type the phone number directly. Press "Send".
That's it! simple.
But now, in the new edition of Series 40, the message editor is little complex.To select a number you cannot press the down arrow straight away. You have to click the "ADD" command, then select from the following list.
1. Recently Used
2. Open Log
3. Contacts
4. Contact Group
Every time it takes 3 clicks to reach the "Contacts". Thus delaying the time taken.. and reducing the efficiency. Why dont they put the Contacts in the first place and then go for Recently Used or Open Log options then? Even if i want to pick a number from the "Recently Used" list, it takes several clicks if my target number is beyond the 4th entry.
Well, When you introduce more features, you cannot avoid to compromise on user experience. :-)
