HCL MiLeap - 7" X Series Laptop

Long ago, I saw the NEC pocket computer and wished I owned one. It's sheer small size and basic OS looked promising. But it was a failure.
Now HCL MiLeap has introduced the X Series Laptop which has a Rs.13K price tag (USD 378). It has a 7" LCD display, compact book-size form factor, 2GB Solid state drive, Celeron M processor and 915 chipset controlling everything.
And the price tag is one drooling factor. Rs.15K (including taxes) for a almost-laptop'ish computer. This is one indian dream to become true. Ever noticed those envy filled eyes in malls or wi-fi enabled public places, which looks at those people using laptops on the move? have you ever felt that some one wishes he too has a laptop so that he can watch movies as you do in the day time trains? :-)
Unfortunately, HCL always proves to be lackluster in innovation. They are marketing and sales guys.. but not true hardware vendors. Everyone expects a cheap laptop (minus a few frills) but not a butchered one. HCL's MiLeap X has everything right in the marketing front, but a major bug in the specifications. Had they fitted this piece with a 4GB/8GB SSD, this would have received a great sales boost. People never mind to spend an extra 1000 bucks, if they get more space. Do they?
Apart from this, MiLeap X is a great device for people on the move. Remove the Linux and Install Windows 98 and Office 2000, you will get a perfect business laptop.
