graphic design, blogging, Opera community, photography
...
As much as I liked the design that I had on this blog, it wasn't
mine. I felt strongly that I had to step forward and be counted as a true Citizen of the World™.
Yes, it was clear I had to
As you can see, the overall design of the site is much more basic, but I thought personalizing my own blog was something long overdue. And, I think I did a bang-up job making the banner. (that's me at the far right of the photo, reflected in a shop window in Santa Rosa)
I'll try to add more features as I overcome my limitations as a designer, web logger, lover, astronaut...
oooh. way past my bedtime...

photos, Petaluma River, Sonoma Coast, California
...
When I was younger, I used to be constantly surrounded by photographers. Oddly enough, because I was less visually oriented, and more literary oriented. Consequently, I've never owned a camera in my adult life, and only bought my first TV when I was...
*ahem* ...
over thirty... (sure, I was offered a few. For free. Naturally, I was suspicious...)
Well, I no longer own a TV, but I now have a chee-zee digital camera gizmo on my cell phone. The inevitable result of this state of affairs can be found
here.
I'm hoping my latest photo album will appear in Opera Community's "New Albums" page. My last one, showing
my trip to the Sonoma, California coast, didn't appear there. I don't how they select which albums are displayed there (or who does the selecting), but it would be nice to see some "views" appearing for my pictures.

April Fools, web, royalty-free, stock photography
...
OK. I realize it was an April Fools joke, but...
It would not be a bad idea to have a section for community-created royalty-free stock photography. I realize some people might not mind if other people used photos from their Opera photo albums for sprucing up web pages (unless, of course, there were $$$ involved, in which case...), but a lot of people would.
Having a repository specifically created for sharing original stock photos would allow amateur and beginning photographers a chance to get some of their work in circulation, and it would give people who are learning web design to find material to use in their (non-commercial, unless explicitly specified) work.
Anyway... that's my dumb idea, and I'm sticking to it...
