ZAP Newsletter

, , , ...

NOTE: I just updated one of the links in the message, this is actually about a year old.

I've been a very busy busy boy, getting up to speed with two versions of Drupal (5.7 & 6.2) at ZapWorld, and moving to new digs in Santa Rosa. I redid most of the front page at zapworld.com (among many other things), but I just finished the April (May?) newsletter, which allowed me to indulge my more (but not most) creative side. I did pretty much everything in a text editor (for those CSS purists, it should be noted that few, if any, email clients display divs correctly, so I had to do my layout with tables), but I also did the two prominant banners, for the header (pictured below, with a link to the full page) and the Zapino, an electric scooter modeled on the ever-stylish Vespa. For the header banner, I even used one of the photos I took last summer in Glen Ellen (as one or two of my dedicated reader will surely recall...).

Blast from the Past!

This is a picture I took just weeks after I bought my first (real) camera ever:

This picture was taken in apartment 3A of the newly renovated Chauvet Hotel, July 2007. I was using a Samsung S720 digital camera which I bought for around 100 bucks (it's now worth less).

I'm kind of partial to this one. Funny thing, though: I was packing my camera away after taking numerous photos, and was thinking of where I wanted to take photos next, when this Magnolia Tree snuck up on me & bit me in the rear! (I almost bumped my head on this very branch when I stood up)

(don't forget to zoom)

Last Friday in Port Costa

, , , ...

(sorry, but I've been waay late in my posts for a variety of reasons)

Last week, the Love of My Life called me, asking if I could help her paste up her (mostly) annual calendar, featuring her photographs in and around Port Costa, CA.

She came out to meet me in Cotati, unfortunately when she got here, she didn't have her photo files along with her, and we decide to go out to Port Costa so she could retrieve her photos, and take some more photos around town while there was still daylight.

We drove the scenic route to the Carquinez Bridge. This is a picture from the Highway 37 bridge over the Napa River (and those two peaks in the background on the left are Mt. Diablo):

She had to stop at her bank in the town of Crockett on the way, so it was getting pretty late in the day when we got to Port Costa.

Wallpaper!

I just resized a few of my favorite photos for use as wallpaper. Feel free to pillage! There are two sizes for each photo: photos in the left column are sized 1320 x 990 pixels, for those of you with really BIG screens, and on the right, photos are sized 1200 x 900 for those of us with normal screens. p:

Just one example of the FINE ARTISTRY you'll find on this page:

I'll be adding more as I get around to resizing things. Stay tuned for more adventures!
