Bad Blogger

I'm a little red rooster / too lazy to blog for days

It's Official: Technorati Sucks! Also, it blows

, , , , ,

How versatile. Their indexing engine doesn't seem to work, their pinging doesn't work-- AND they never seem to address their numerous technical problems.

In short, Technorati SUCKS!

(and they don't seem to care about that)

I'm sorry.

rfhurley 5. September 2008, 01:56

Luckily, THIS is not my problem...

(I'm just tired of wasting time on them)

Dacotah 5. September 2008, 03:12

I'm glad it's not your problem.
Sorry you wasted your time on them and became frustrated.

Nerak 5. September 2008, 04:38

I agree. They totally blow ass. I have a stupid little authority badge thingy on my site. It's never the same as the number I get when I log into Technorati. Totally inconsistent.

The place must be run by chimps. :left:

The place must be run by chimps.

I dunno. You get enough chimps in the room with enough time, and eventually (it's said) they'll write the works of Shakespeare.

I'm thinking slugs...

Nerak 5. September 2008, 18:57

 I'll go with that.

Sorry you are having problems. Karen, your Technorati Authority appears to be correct at 4 according to your Authority Badge on your blog and in the system.

Note that Authority and Blog Reactions are not the same thing. Authority is the measure of the unique blogs that have linked to your blog in the last 6 months. The same blog linking to you over and over doesn't change your authority, though each reaction will be listed.

You can find out more here: http://support.technorati.com/faq/topic/71?replies=1

Hope this helps a little, your friendly slug.

Robert, one thing to point out is that a multi-word search on most search engines (Google and Technorati, for example) matches all words in the entire document. If you want to search for a specific phrase, you should put the search in double quotes, as in "technorati sucks".

Thus, although there are over 2,680,000 documents on Google that match the search for the two words without double quotes, there are only 1,620 matches if you use double quotes.

This isn't to dispute your claim that we have problems and work to do, but I thought it important to point out the 3 orders of magnitude difference based on how you do the search.

Hope this helps, the slug, again.

what about pinging? It used to work, say... two & 1/2 months ago.

Nerak 7. September 2008, 21:47

Thanks for the info, dorinc. While I appreciate the heads up, I now feel way more pathetic than I did about ten minutes ago.

wickedlizard 25. November 2008, 10:37

i have technorati also... never really use it anymore... awww

Nerak 25. November 2008, 11:01

I never use it anymore, either. Haven't in a very long time.
