International Workers' Day

, ,

Today May Day was celebrated in Aarhus, Danmark - my home town.

This celebration was also a day of protest and demonstration, since several unions in Danmark are on strike at the moment for higher wages and better conditions.

I am to the left politically, that's no secret. So I was glad to be able to participate this may 1st. I brought a camera with me because I thought there would be plenty of photo opportunities at an event like this.

I was right. And I'm happy to share a few.

Music is essential at all occasions

A nice day indeed. For me it's like celebrating Chistmas - tradition, dedication and getting together at the same time.

Good for you - I would have enjoyed being there too. All lovely photos, but the old man between those flags is special indeed.

The whole scene here on "devils island" drowned in rain. You´ve been in the sunny side of the country :D . I went to a museum instead

wow, the 1st one I like the most -- it's a good idea to take photo of a man between two red flags

Thanks for the comments, all.

"Devil's Island" - I've heard that expression used before - and frankly I don't like it. I like Zealand a lot - and Copenhagen, too. Probably also Helsingør, Nicolas - haven't visited your town yet, though.

Don´t worry Allan. I wasn´t offended when I heard that expression, thought it was quite funny :D
You havn´t been to Helsingør? I can recommend visiting my little corner of the world. I´ll put the kettle on :D

I don't even think that Pat Maginess would want to mess with that dude in the top photo!

Nicolas - I'll remember what you said about the kettle

I knew it - Pat Maginess is a sissy...
