My message in a bottle

Take The Load Off

, , ,

Nice to come by a device in the city that isn't meant to break any speed record.

In fact it wasn't only nice; it was very funny to see people in haste running along the walls in the hunt for money, fame and success totally ignoring this thing just standing there as a reminder of what life is also about.

I wonder if anybody but me saw this as a call for doing what is necessary? I sat down. Smiled for myself. Stood up, took a photo and sat down again.

I must admit that this low-tech gadget saved my day.

Wonder if it's still there?

For the Boy Hidden in the ManWhy is it, that........

I hope it is.

I have one of those in my living room. Well, to tell the truth, I have two. I find them quite nice, and comfortable as well. Sometimes I sit in one of them for hours, not doing anything. I just sit there.

:D Allan, this chair would have become another one of my projects. It has interesting lines to it and looks to be quite comfortable. I'd give it new white paint and new red cloth. Or perhaps lime green.

Allan 14. October 2009, 12:23

Thank you for the comments.

Martin, you have such things in your flat? And two of them? Sounds like a good idea to me :D

Pam, after painting and clothing, would you leave it in the street?

PainterWoman 14. October 2009, 12:41

Nope, I'd put it on my patio.

That's a nice thought though to leave it in the street.

It wasn't chucked because the last owner had crabs or scabies was it?...
=o}

der Wandersmann 15. October 2009, 03:52

We'll find out soon enough.

I have noticed that sometimes we only consider a photo to be "art" if there are no people in it.

I'm only making a little joke, but since this is your passion, what do you think? Does the absence of human beings in a photo make it more reflective for the human looking at the photo?

This is why I don't buy slacks or shoes at second-hand stores. Dress shirts, why not? Anything that touches the butt or feet... *shudder*.

Allan 17. October 2009, 20:20

Rick, most certainly not.

I can photograph a chair without having to ask - and it will look the same even if I should ask. People will start posing if they accept to be photographed - and then it will all become boring. That goes for most people.

Besides - I don't do art. I make pictures.

A-ha! You have thought this through.

I can understand the people-posing-is-boring stuff. I love it when I can get a truly candid shot -- not one where the subject is holding himself in his most attractive state, or as is the case with my Asian friends, making a "peace" sign (I now understand this to also mean, "It's OK to take my picture.") Always the same facial expression... ugh.

Every time I get a new camera, I have to turn turn the audio beep off and make the flash manual, just so I have a chance of getting an honest pic.

Scabies, Lice & Crabs do armpits and neck collar crease...

Martin K 17. October 2009, 22:53

I like taking pictures of people, and I have found out how to make them look natural. I just say something really stupid or make a farting sound or do funny gestures, and they'd laugh. People always look natural when they laugh. Smiles, you can fake, but nobody can fake a natural laugh.

It's the old Psychology argument you're taught at Police Academy, a watched suspect will never boil...

But they look as art

Ana 18. October 2009, 14:31

I'd take some purple velvet material and change it. And, yes, I'd place it somewhere else... by the fire i think.

der Wandersmann 18. October 2009, 14:50

It's basically a good design, despite having seen better days ... one of those bent laminated wood things so popular in Scandinavia years ago ... I have a feeling that it's a hangover from the Art Deco period of the '30s.

The reupholstering would be a good investment of time and materials, I think.

Allan 18. October 2009, 17:48

I passed the chair again today. It asked of me to thank you all for the comments.
