Beautiful...yet melancholy at the same time.

José Torres 26. November 2008, 17:09

Wow, this is realy beautiful! with tripod of course!:wink:

Richard 26. November 2008, 17:17

Ooooh - lovely, and strikingly similar to one I took yesterday. Must be something in the air.

Allan 26. November 2008, 17:34

Yes, Richard. The same kind of mood.

Thanks, Painter.

With tripod of course, Ze. I've noticed you've got one of those, too.

Angeliki 26. November 2008, 20:59

 it doesn't look like a happy story to tell Allan....

Richard your guy is so much more peaceful!!

isn't body language a great thing ???

Allan 26. November 2008, 21:02

Angeliki, that on the other hand looks very cozy. From Greece?

Angeliki 26. November 2008, 21:28

it is taken in New York City,
amazingly he is overdressed for a hot day that it was that day
and I assumed those were the only clothing he owned :frown:
still he seemed contend
and that's what attracted me to take the picture...

Allan 26. November 2008, 21:30

Well, there you go. Something about his appearance, the bike and the fence, tree and grass didn't exactly point m in the direction of New York City.

Nice photo anyway.

Angeliki 26. November 2008, 21:39

:o: thanks,

NYC city has many bikers, especially the past 5 years,
the house was not occupied and you can see the grass not trimmed, in the area I live we do have quiet streets and neighbors that say "hello"
this is the view from my 7th floor window :

Allan 26. November 2008, 21:46

Yes, of course there's more to New York than just Manhattan. It's just that when you finally get yourself installed as a tourist in an Upper East Side hotel, there's more than enough to occupy you a full week on that island.

Manhattan tends to become identical with NY for the outsider like me - which isn't fair of course.

Angeliki 26. November 2008, 21:51

yes,
NYCity is beautiful and uinique,
I am only 20 minutes away from Central Park and Manhattan has been "home" for many years when I had my Corporation on 54th str and seventh Avenue,
now days I do enjoy having coffee in the park before I start my business day and despite of the fact that I don't miss Manhattan look at this baby taken lately :

Anything for you, Angeliki

Angeliki 26. November 2008, 22:01

Nicolas Borgsmidt 26. November 2008, 22:34

You see them everywhere.

A fantastic subreal, dreamlike photo Allan

Angeliki 26. November 2008, 22:59

so far we had,
the desperate,
the dreamer,
the peaceful,
the lost......

society in it's reality

Angeliki 27. November 2008, 00:17

Ze this is funny too!
he is having his white socks,
shoes neatly under his bench and what life will be without a matress for comfort!!

a great shot!
maybe we should make a joined album on 365photos and add all our guys there!
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm am I thinking 365photos 24/7 ??

José Torres 27. November 2008, 13:57

Yes socks project, I hope no one see my pink socks project...

In the picture that man is a hemigrant waiting for work...

White sock...it's so funny when touristes come with sandals and white socks, imposible don't lought...:lol:

PainterWoman 27. November 2008, 14:37

"White sock...it's so funny when touristes come with sandals and white socks..."

  Sorry, I have to laugh. Reminds me of a time 25 yrs ago when our family was in San Diego walking along the boardwalk. My ex always wore white socks all the way to the knee :eyes: with his sandals. When we walked by a bunch of young guys sitting on a bench, one said 'nice socks'. My ex didn't hear it, only my son and I and his friend. We could not contain ourselves and began laughing hysterically. My ex kept asking what we were laughing at but we were unable to talk.

José Torres 27. November 2008, 14:44

To funny Pamela! :lol::lol:

Allan 27. November 2008, 14:45

This is becoming a collection :eyes:

I remember the eighties when men could wear pink shirts and white socks at the same time and nobody would laugh...

José Torres 27. November 2008, 14:54

:lol::lol: now it's fashion...:lol::lol:

Allan 27. November 2008, 14:56

We were absolutely smashing to look at!

José Torres 27. November 2008, 15:03

Allan 27. November 2008, 15:05

Aah, these old men are just lovely!

There's a song with that theme - going like:

"when old men stop sitting
talkin' about old women"

It's a country song. Anybody?

Allan 27. November 2008, 15:16

José Torres 27. November 2008, 15:44

Yesssss great song Alan!:up: Thanks :smile:

By the way there are a mess in the new voting awards...http://my.opera.com/community/blog/my-opera-awards-finalists?cid=6471859

Allan 27. November 2008, 15:46

I noticed. Never mind. It'll be sorted out soon enough.

Otherwise we'll all be winners :D

José Torres 27. November 2008, 15:52

We already are winers! Sad is some of people was nominated, is out now of awards, and that is not nice...

Allan 27. November 2008, 15:56

I am not mentioned in the top photographer category any more. And if you try to vote - you don't have access rights. I think it's funny :D

José Torres 27. November 2008, 16:10

I saw that Alan...

All this is to funny "Balance" is the therm...

José Torres 27. November 2008, 16:12

All the categories I was nominated, the only one i would like to win is "Biggest Opera fan" Now I'm out of competition...

Allan 27. November 2008, 16:13

Screw it. It's not really important. I just think they shouldn't have started all this stuff if they don't mean it.

José Torres 27. November 2008, 16:16

:up: this will not have a nice or fun end!

Allan 27. November 2008, 16:17

It certainly won't. I see trouble on the horizon - in which I will have no part.

José Torres 27. November 2008, 16:19

I'm already out!

I will make a post with: PLEASE DON'T VOTE IN ME...:lol:

Allan 27. November 2008, 16:19

That's the way to do it. I made something similar...

José Torres 27. November 2008, 16:21

:smile::smile::smile:

Angeliki 27. November 2008, 19:53

you are winners in my books!!!
I stopped visiting the polls all together since last night!
I felt sad that members campaign against other members, it is sad that a T-shirt is above friendship.
on a happier note,
Ze,
the pink socks will always be your trade mark ! what a great idea that was!!!
Allan we need to start giving links out of our 80's pictures.. that can stop traffic !!

Allan 27. November 2008, 21:21

Angeliki - I wasn't sad about the competition. I like games, as long as they're fun, and I thought this one was. Until the shit hit the fan, that is.

80's pictures? You don't know what will happen now, but you'll see. Stay tuned - don't touch that dial :D

PainterWoman 27. November 2008, 21:27

"Until the shit hit the fan"

I have no idea what everyone is talking about. Must of missed it.

Angeliki 27. November 2008, 21:31

I know Allan,
I stopped visiting the polls since last night
I will not till the 12/10,
when the smell starts its time for some fresh air!

"80's pictures? You don't know what will happen now, but you'll see. Stay tuned - don't touch that dial :D"
I am looking forward to it!!

Allan 27. November 2008, 21:35

You missed it, Painter. Good for you. It was just a competition that got screwed up. Nothing important, really.

Looking forward to it, Angeliki? You're one brave woman. It's not gonna be pretty, I can assure you that!

Angeliki 27. November 2008, 21:38

bravery is my only stock of the trade!!

José Torres 27. November 2008, 22:56

Pamela you don't lost nothing important!:wink: Believe me!:smile:

Angel! :up::yes:

Darko 28. November 2008, 15:09
