Photography, wisdom, time
We had the first touch of frost. Leaves are all yellow and brown. Nature is preparing to die.
Still one brave rose in my beloved garden is holding it's head high - after the frost and a night's rain looking even better than ever. I guess it is with roses like it is with us humans - obstacles add character to the individual.
Either way, I felt a connection with my rose.

Nice to come by a device in the city that isn't meant to break any speed record.
In fact it wasn't only nice; it was very funny to see people in haste running along the walls in the hunt for money, fame and success totally ignoring this thing just standing there as a reminder of what life is also about.
I wonder if anybody but me saw this as a call for doing what is necessary? I sat down. Smiled for myself. Stood up, took a photo and sat down again.
I must admit that this low-tech gadget saved my day.
Wonder if it's still there?

I remember when I was a very young man - in the late seventies.
My father said to me: "Son, think of all that fuel we burn off each day all over the planet. I can't understand why the air isn't getting warmer because of that. All that heat, all that burning".
My dad didn't think about CO2 and the greenhouse effect. He was thinking in more simple terms. And I remember thinking: "That silly old man. He must be daft. I choose not to comment on his silly thinking at all".
Now we're in the middle of it, and it turns out that he was more right about things than at least I thought. He died in '97 and never knew how right he really was.

People say all sorts of things
and I tend to believe them
when they do
Like "We Shall Overcome"
I bet that is true enough
But today it dawned upon me
that when I've been told
that "we cannot take anything with us
when we die"
is so untrue
The truth hit me in the face:
All we have given to others in our lives
is what we will take with us
when we die

In the water of the Word
I stand at dock and listen,
Drinking in the simplest command,
“Love your neighbor
As yourself…”
I rest,
An easy yoke…
And daily bread I sup,
how else?…
Then louder command,
“Have no other Gods before me.”
Subtler still, aside my will,
I realize the treasure,
Sell all I have,
My hope still stands,
But strongerer than ever..
His love for me,
still beckoning
Closer, still, toward heaven,…
At right hand sits
And waits for me…
I long for Him
My treasure…
I long for Him.
