My New Toy

Ladies and Gentlemen - behold my new mobile:
The Nokia E71. Probably the best working mobile I've ever had. It's slick, sturdy and since I've been accustomed to Symbian as Operating System through the years, I have had no problems customizing it the way I like it.
One of the first things I did was to download and install Opera Mini. Opera Mini was, by the way, the reason I entered Opera Community years back. I was told by a friend that the best browser for a mobile came from some obscure Norwegian company with the name of a musical genre. I tried it, and was very satisfied with it - and discovered that Opera was more than just a browser for mobiles. Much more, in fact - including blogging software. The rest is history.
This entry is, of course, made on my E71. Except from the picture, which I found somewhere on the ´Net and stored on my Mac.

Jill, what is it with you and mobiles?
Nicolas. This one can't make coffee - but it does a damned good job frying eggs!
Darko, what is your fav mobile brand?

six years ago someone i don't know left their nokia in the back seat of my car. i took it to the shop and they gave it a new card. i've been using it ever since. works just fine. never have a problem with it.
i guess i can wait a few months for a new phone. i want to be able to post in opera from the mountain top. now i have found out by reading online that the new iphone doesn't allow opera. as we say f- them. i'll copy you and get a nokia.

This phone will be available in Europe from this month on, so in Serbia it will be August-September. And I don`t think it will cost less than 500 eur which is too much, if you ask me

I thought this one would be better, and it is to an extent. The main problem I have with it is that the time keeps changing in its own.
there are times throughout the day that I have to change it back to the correct day and time. it has the habit of adding 2 days and a few hours and whether it is am or pm.
been trying to figure that out, as to why it does it, since I got it, with no help at all from ATT or Motorola.

I have thought a lot about touch screen, and have come to the preliminary conclusion that they're not for me. I don't like it when the screen gets all smudgy from my greasy little fingers.
I looked at the Android, and was ready to buy a few weeks ago - but it only came with a fixed provider - and one that I don't like. That and the touch screen....
Windows? No, I guess I'll have to do them myself
Kimberly, that mobile (which I know next to nothing about) can you not look around in some settings and make it adjust time according to your provider's informations?

There is a say that people remain children deep inside
Wish it serves you well.

I am back
Allan # 4. July 2009, 17:45
That Sony sure looks interesting, too!
Kimberly, You really shouldn't settle for that. None of my business, though.
Angeliki, welcome back....

Allan, I'm very happy for you.
The e71 is advertised here as being the thinest smartphone available.
I just bought a rubberized skin for mine. It is so slick I was afraid I would drop the thing. Also helps against bumping it.

I looked at the Blackberry in the shop - and was tempted. But I am so much used to the Symbian OS.
Edward Piercy # 4. July 2009, 20:57
I think the Blackberry OS/feature set is very quirky. In fact I think they keep it puposely that way way because they wanted older Blackberry users to still feel comfortable on the thing. At least that's my theory.
In any case I hope you enjoy the new toy. Martin already has my mail for texting, and should you want mine just PM me.
