Press "Mute" and let´s be silent for a while

Robert Adler, the inventor of the remote control, is dead 93 years of age.
During his 60 year career, he claimed no less than 180 different patents. The most wellknown and commonly used of those must have been the one from 1956, where he developed a gadget called "The Zenith Space Command Remote Control"
A gadget with a huge name and a huge impact. For the first time people were now able to switch channel or mute the weatherman on their TV without even elevating their bottoms from the sofa.
Today I will be thinking of the late Robert Adler whenever I grab my remote. At the same time being a bit envious of him, since I´ve always had this dream of making something in my life which will be an important part of people´s lifes in general.

It is nice when you know the history of the thing or devise you are using.
Love,
Ramute.

Up to now I never even considered that there was an inventor of the remote control. That there would be one guy, sitting in a lab or a workshop, thinking "what if I made a gadjet that would change the channel from across the room?" But I suppose that's the nature of invention.

Another very interesting and sad story, the world always needs people like that.
To me the greatest inventions are those we only notise when they are missing.
But Allan, You have already produced something that is maybe not important at the same level though.
But your photos has brought inspiration to a lot of people I think and for sure they are inspiring to me.
Take care:)

Particularly for Thomas: The problem about photography is, that we´ll probably never make a true original. Sometimes I think it´s all been photographed before, alas. Thanks anyroad

Sometimes I agree with you, but most often I recognise that each photo even though the idea originated from elsewhere is unique...
