Early Summer

The month of May is a very special month in Scandinavia.
People here have suffered darkness, cold, rain and wet feet for months. Suddenly everything has changed - not overnight, but it feels that way.
Now we take off (most of) our clothes and expose our winter-pale skin to the vitalising sunlight. The air is warm, the birds are singing as if they´re afraid to miss a note before fall. I drove away from the city. An hour´s drive and I was in the middle of the countryside where the joy of spring and summer is felt the most. Every year I fall for the radiant colours, the sounds, the smells and the intense light.
This is where I sat all by myself enjoying a sandwhich and a beer. I thanked the creator, picked up my paper and my bottle, took a photograph and went on.
