80's Revisited

, ,

Man, it's a long time ago.

The eighties, that is. And the seventies even more.

Just look at the following photo taken in Copenhagen about 1978. It's me, all right.

Or this one, an early photographic experiment from somewhere around 1980, executed by this fellow.

One more.

Do you remember those days? The days of white socks in sandals and pink shirts on a man. And with nobody laughing behind his back. With glasses as big as apartment windows - and you were still cool?

This is me at about 1983. In the school library. I spend a lot of time there.

Sorry, I do not know how to make the photo show up here but this is me in the eighties.

Allan, I love that last one of you with the pipe in your mouth. bigsmile

Allanricewood Friday, November 28, 2008 7:41:50 AM

I looked silly back then - but Painter! You looked absolutely fantastic!!

Thank you for the participation, everyone. Or confession or whatever.

That last photo of me was made as a celebration of my leaving the cigarettes in favor of the pipe.

That last photo of you is hilarious - it had me chuckling away at my desk.

Allanricewood Friday, November 28, 2008 10:34:06 AM

Hey, Matt. Glad I could help with a bit of fun. This was made in pre-digital times, mind you. Double exposure and covering half of the lens.

Asgeirmisund007 Saturday, November 29, 2008 8:51:51 PM

Cool. Well, you know what they say - the 80's are back bigsmile

Allanricewood Saturday, November 29, 2008 9:26:09 PM

Nicolas Borgsmidtnopanic Sunday, November 30, 2008 2:20:43 AM

The 80´s back?! Hopefully not all of it scared

Martin K™Aqualion Sunday, November 30, 2008 7:36:59 AM

Kurt Vonnegut wrote a very disturbing (but quite funny) story about something similar, called 'TimeQuake'.

Allanricewood Sunday, November 30, 2008 8:27:22 AM

Neo-hyper-liberalism began in that decade. Thatcher and stuff. I could do without that for sure - even though we're still suffering the aftermath.

Good, old Kurt. I remember that story as mostly depressing, though. Adequately depressing - but depressing.

PainterWoman Sunday, November 30, 2008 9:52:33 AM

I forget you guys are much younger than me so in the 80's you would be in your late teens? I will have to find an older pic of me so it won't be the 80's, more like the late 60's where I am around the same age as in your pics. I was 32 yrs old in that picture I linked you to. It was taken 1980, when I was in Washington State with my 11 yr. old son and 2 yr. old daughter.

Allanricewood Sunday, November 30, 2008 9:55:57 AM

That explains some of it - but you are good looking without regard to decade, I'm sure.

By the way - I was twenty in 1980.

i was seventeen when you were born... but i don't believe in 'age gap'.

these are cool pictures of you allan. i had a feeling you were a little bit 'hip' lol

pink shirts? i almost bought one yesterday. then i thought noooo.... too frivolous and undignified. now i think i'll just go back and buy it anyway. happy

Allanricewood Wednesday, December 3, 2008 10:39:13 PM

Do it! I will, too.

Take a walk on the wild side.

scott cummingI_ArtMan Thursday, December 4, 2008 12:48:58 AM

Allanricewood Thursday, December 4, 2008 9:21:35 AM
