80's Revisited

, ,

Man, it's a long time ago.

The eighties, that is. And the seventies even more.

Just look at the following photo taken in Copenhagen about 1978. It's me, all right.

Or this one, an early photographic experiment from somewhere around 1980, executed by this fellow.

One more.

Do you remember those days? The days of white socks in sandals and pink shirts on a man. And with nobody laughing behind his back. With glasses as big as apartment windows - and you were still cool?

This is me at about 1983. In the school library. I spend a lot of time there.

Sorry, I do not know how to make the photo show up here but this is me in the eighties.

Allan, I love that last one of you with the pipe in your mouth. :D

ricewood 28. November 2008, 07:41

I looked silly back then - but Painter! You looked absolutely fantastic!!

Thank you for the participation, everyone. Or confession or whatever.

That last photo of me was made as a celebration of my leaving the cigarettes in favor of the pipe.

That last photo of you is hilarious - it had me chuckling away at my desk.

ricewood 28. November 2008, 10:34

Hey, Matt. Glad I could help with a bit of fun. This was made in pre-digital times, mind you. Double exposure and covering half of the lens.

misund007 29. November 2008, 20:51

Cool. Well, you know what they say - the 80's are back :D

ricewood 29. November 2008, 21:26

They do? Didn't say it to me :eyes:

nopanic 30. November 2008, 02:20

The 80´s back?! Hopefully not all of it :insane:

Aqualion 30. November 2008, 07:36

Kurt Vonnegut wrote a very disturbing (but quite funny) story about something similar, called 'TimeQuake'.

ricewood 30. November 2008, 08:27

Neo-hyper-liberalism began in that decade. Thatcher and stuff. I could do without that for sure - even though we're still suffering the aftermath.

Good, old Kurt. I remember that story as mostly depressing, though. Adequately depressing - but depressing.

PainterWoman 30. November 2008, 09:52

I forget you guys are much younger than me so in the 80's you would be in your late teens? I will have to find an older pic of me so it won't be the 80's, more like the late 60's where I am around the same age as in your pics. I was 32 yrs old in that picture I linked you to. It was taken 1980, when I was in Washington State with my 11 yr. old son and 2 yr. old daughter.

ricewood 30. November 2008, 09:55

That explains some of it - but you are good looking without regard to decade, I'm sure.

By the way - I was twenty in 1980.

I_ArtMan 3. December 2008, 20:54

i was seventeen when you were born... but i don't believe in 'age gap'.

these are cool pictures of you allan. i had a feeling you were a little bit 'hip'

pink shirts? i almost bought one yesterday. then i thought noooo.... too frivolous and undignified. now i think i'll just go back and buy it anyway.

ricewood 3. December 2008, 22:39

Do it! I will, too.

Take a walk on the wild side.

I_ArtMan 4. December 2008, 00:48

i did it.

ricewood 4. December 2008, 09:21

Me too. Second hand. A bargain :D
