You ever run into someone and get to talking and are just blown away by who you just met? I once met a lady who was 105 years old. We got to chatting and it turned out she was Eleanor Roosevelt's private secretary. It was cool really. But today I met a man that had a life that was amazing.
He joined the Marines in 1944. He lied about his age and entered service at 2 days shy of being 15. His first combat experience was on Pelilua where over 8000 died. After that he went to Guadacanal, Iwo Jima, and Okinowa. After the war he served in Korea. He had a published book with his photos in it to show me. After that he joined the SEALS served there and found his was into Dept of State. He worked as a courier for the state department in Europe and the Arab nations. He used to deliver messages to the Pope. Again he proved it with pictures. After that he joined the secret service and worked as one of Eisenhower's body guards. He was not a guy bragging about his life. He was humble and just answering my questions. He was truly an amazing man who had an amazing life. I felt honored to meet him.
I would love to hear any stories about people you have met.

This weekend my wife and I attended a retreat with many friends from church. It was really nice. The place we went was located on a private lake with canoes to use. My wife and I zig zaged our way around the lake. We had trouble going straight. I blamed her, she blamed me. But me made it around anyway. The retreat was nice. Many views were shared about things that we feel and things that we thought would help our church to grow or just become better.

Well the whole world seems to be going through finanicial issues. So much is the fault of the individuals who can't control their spending. Alas that is not only for private citizens but it holds true for our govenrnments too. Why can't they live within their means? Our government has swollen to a huge dollar eating monster. It gets frustrating to see how we as private people have to live within our means and yet they spend way beyond their budjets year out after year. If you were to stack one dollar bills on top of each other until you reached the 14 trillion that we are in the hole for here in America. The pile would go from earth to moon and half way back. When you think about it that way it is really scary.

Hi my name is Rick. Thanks for taking time to view my page here in Opera. I am a 60 year old guy who is madly in love with his wife of over 39 years. I am a financial conservative and a social liberal. Kind of bi-polar I know but that is how I roll. I love funny movies and funny people. Humor is very important to me and love it when people are good at it. I don't like racism, bigots, and especially don't like rude or arrogant people.
