Patrick Martin in WSWS.org article Obama Calls For US Military Mobilization reports that the Democratic candidate said at the Forum on National Service, sponsored by Time at Columbia University in New York that as President he would stand behind a National Service Initiative: "There was that sense of sacred obligation that, frankly, we have lost during these last two wars," Obama said. "I want to restore that." The candidate continued: "And I think it’s important for the president to say, this is an important obligation. If we are going into war, then all of us go, not just some."

Douglas Hester in article Hitler Obama Youth recalls that another country went down this road 60 years or so ago, and it didn't work out so well.
Obama said: "'We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set,' ... 'We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.'"
He said he would make federal assistance conditional on school districts establishing service programs and set the goal of 50 hours of service a year for middle and high school students.
Under Obama, Patriotism is loving and serving your country; and youth will be instrumental in civil security and military service.
The night's forum seems to just be a continuation of Obama's speech in Colorado Springs where he is quoted by John Whitesides of Reuters saying: " Loving your country must mean accepting your responsibility to do your part to change it." Colorado Springs is in a conservative region of the state that is home to a military base, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and is the hub of many christian religious non-profit organizations, as well as to a host of Evangelical Christian megachurches.
Yes, the Hitler Youth will be returning, so get your brown shirts and jack boots ready if Obama is elected.

To some degree I find it strange that a black man would endorse slavery. But then again, his words, prove that even he is a neocon. Yes there are neocons on the left and on the right. And they take morality, taxation and investment every which way but right; but then again, the Straussians, those of the persuasion of Leo Strauss, believe that "The Strong Must Rule The Weak".
Leo Strauss was a philosophy instructor at the University of Chicago. He developed and held forth Straussism. And today, Straussism is the prevailing and predominate philosophy of the age. Straussism presents the “Wisdom of the Ancients”: there is only one right: The Natural Right of the Few to Rule the Many.
Strauss called for "philosopher kings", that is "philosopher rulers", to arise to manifest this right.
His student-disciples, the Straussians, headed by Pual Wolfowitz left academia in search of political power. They called themselves neocons and constructed neo-conservatism or as some write neo-liberalism; they rose to power in the White House. Straussism is now the dynamo behind foreign and domestic policy.
Strussians hold that those who are fit to rule, are those who realize there is no morality -- that there is only one natural right – the right of the superior to rule over the inferior.
Strauss divided the history of political thought into two camps: the ancients are wise and wily, whereas the modern philosophers, like Locke and other liberals, are vulgar and foolish.
Strauss held that human beings are born neither free nor equal. The natural human condition, is not one of freedom, but of subordination. The Straussians, hold they are the wise Elite, and as such are to rule over the vulgar Many.
