Economic Blight And Economic Opportunity Create Cities Of Single Persons

The economic blight and despair of Detroit breaks up families; and the economic opportunity of the big cities such as San Francisco. New York, and Boston create 'cities of solitude', that is 'megacenters of single people'.
Sperling's BestPlaces relates that Detroit, with 43% singles, is second only to San Francisco, with 47% sinles; New York, and Boston round out the top four.
San Francisco seems to attract single people like a good pickup line, if there is such a thing. Compared to every other metro area in the U.S., the San Francisco region, which includes areas south like San Mateo and Redwood City, has the highest percentage of single persons.
Most southern cities are not flush with single people. Those cities in southern states that have more singles are homes to colleges, where students might choose to remain after graduation, or are known for their nightlife. New Orleans (economic desperation), Austin (economic independence), and a handful of Florida towns all have more singles than the national average. (Jane Gross reveals in New York Times article that Delray Beach is the recovery capital and mecca, that is, a recovery community for the formerly addicted where attening 12-step meetings is the norm. The Crossroads Club, the headquarters for 115 12-step meetings a week, where gossip is of romance between recovering addicts, overdoses, suicides and friends who have successfully moved back home. “This community is one big helping hand that is always open,” said Mike Devane, a new halfway house owner, who lost his job and family in New Jersey before coming south five years ago to get sober).
Logan, UT, and Provo, UT, (Mormon birthing centers) both have fewer than 20% singles, the lowest in the country. Texas cities McAllen (with 23% singles) and Laredo-El Paso (with 28% singles) have similarly low numbers of single people (Hispanic families). Of note these last two cities, McAllen and ElPaso are the most gender imbalanced with 28% and 27% more women than men.

I am single, and in as much as we are quickly going into the "last days" where time is running out, if I am going to get hitched up, maybe I should pack my bags and leave Bellingham, Washington.
There are a lot of single women here; but they are mostly young Asian University students who travel around in mixed groups; they have 3.85 and above GPA, and came here to go to Western Washington University, WWU; they don't want an old, bald, white guy, with big belly, like me!
Maybe my prospects for getting hitched up will be better down south on the border, like down in the rural and agricultural Rio Grande river valley of Texas where there are more women than men.
Yes, maybe I will stop blogging, quit encouraging people to invest in gold; put on my sombrero and go south.
