Link to The Virtual Jewish History Tour - Yemen Web site from a Mormanity commenter. Yemen is down there on the tip of the Arabian peninsula. You can look at 1 Nephi 16:13-14, 33-34, 17:1-6 to read the directions Lehi's group traveled, leaving them on the eastern side of the peninsula rather than in the Yemen area.

Moroni gave Joseph Smith the gold plates used in translating the Book of Mormon, published in nearby Palmyra, New York in 1830.
