WL writes: Hi, thanks a lot for this great widget! When updating Opera, I forgot to export my events (stupid me). Is there a possibility to retrieve them? I saved all "documents and settings" and "local settings" files of my old Opera. Are the events stored in any of these files? I looked around in the "widgets" folder but can't find anything. I'm a noob though, maybe you can tell me the place? Greetings, WL

@WL:

Looks like you never got a reply to your question, and although it may be too late to help you, I'll try:

I'm new to this widget myself, and just looking at it for the first time, but it appears that events may be saved in the "widgets.dat" file in the widgets folder of your Opera installation. Check to see if you have an old copy of this file in what you saved from your old Opera. (I'm assuming from the date of your post that you probably upgraded to Opera 10. I have several versions of Opera installed, and my Opera 9.51-9.64 widgets folders are under C:\Documents and Settings\(UserName)\Application Data\Opera\(OperaVersion)\profile\, but my Opera 10 widgets folder is under C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera\(OperaVersion)\.

If you do have an old "widgets.dat" file, it may contain data or settings from other widgets as well, and I doubt that it can simply be substituted for the new "widgets.dat" file unless the individual widget subfolders in the widgets folder (named with a 30-digit number in Opera for Windows) match the section id (e.g., <section id="396588813344812170271229762077">) in the new "widgets.dat" file. (They might match, if your Opera 10 upgrade installed (or left) widgets in the same exact location where they were before. If they do match, close Opera, make a backup of the new "widgets.dat" file and then copy the old one into its place and reopen Opera and try the widget. If it doesn't work right, just close Opera and copy the backup of the new "widgets.dat" file back into the folder.)

If you just need a reminder of what events were previously stored you may be able to get sufficient info by opening the old "widgets.dat" file with a text editor and reviewing the relevant lines.

If you want to try to import the previous events, close Opera and make a backup copy of the new "widgets.dat" file then try copying and pasting the relevant lines from the old "widgets.dat" file into the new one, save it, and re-open Opera and try the widget. Again, if it doesn't work, just close Opera and copy the backup of the new "widgets.dat" file back into the folder.

If none of that works and it's still important to try further, try requesting help on the Opera browser forum (or possibly on the Opera Widgets forum).

Good luck!
gdveggie

Please rkm, could you alter todays designation in Portuguese? It states "Confraternização Universal" wich means something as "Universal Friendship".
It seems really weird in Portuguese. A kind of obscure sect or something...
Just "Ano Novo" (New Year) will be enough smile
Thanks

Charlie H writes: I just dowloaded your calendar to my archos 5. It looks like exactly what I need. My problem is that the lower half of each calendar display falls below the archos screen so I cannot access any of the calendar buttons (I cannot access settings, cannot create new event, etc). Can you help me? I really need your calendar. Thank you.

Karen Livy writes: I am having that same problem as reported by dorje1428 (2008-03-13) Above. You schedule a event to occur every 3rd Thursday only the 3rd Wednesday is proffered.. Alas it can get confused if the 3rd Thursday follows the 2nd Wednesday, the years schedule varies. I like the tool. An option to download it to GNUnumerics would be nice.

Anonymous writes: OK. I take it back, or part of it, anyway: A nicely done widget, but it's not multi-monitor friendly. Drag it to a second monitor, and it snaps back to the primary monitor. Still nicely done, but I've found the Advanced setting to allow placement off the primary monitor.

Lederling writes: Hello, I have lost my computer and have to recover the settings and data from a safety copy of my hard drive. Since I had no export, i searched for the location, where all settings and data ist stored. It is a file named 'prefs.dat' ! Unfortunately there are existing several files with that name. I identified the start block: Time and Date 1.32 and took the newest file according to the save date from the safety copy. Then I installed Time And Date on the new computer and stopped both Opera and the Widget, identified the location of the file(s) starting with that sequence and replaced all with the old one. After re-starting Time And Date, all settings and data was there like nothing happend. I'm so lucky! lederling§freenet.de

I have just installed the latest version of T & D together with the current Opera and W7 HP. I have also imported my old settings dates from a previous copy, however, when I try to export the data so that I can use it on another machine, nothing happens.
Has anything changed in this area?
What could I be doing wrong?

Thank you so much for this comment about Time and Date! It worked for me too. You saved the day, I was getting desperate! And to think that a little more than two weeks ago, i wouldn't have had a clue of what to do... And now I know how to backup my events, which I couldn't do directly because of a BUG (the same that johninwitney mentionned a week ago). Would you believe that I lost all my stuff when trying to backup/copy those files?: I had forgotten/didn't think of closing Opera (and its process!...). I had to undelete the files, and luckily enough, I could find two correct prefs.dat. The path of the file, for me, is: C:\Documents and Settings\admin\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera\Widget Time and Date 1.32\widgets and wuid... Thanks a million! mattbel78

Thank you for nice Widget,RKM.
But I had problem with earlier version of Opera with this Widget. This earlier Widget stored some 4Mb data which when prompted to open it did not
and message was" Opera.dll missing";tried again innumerable times but the same message.
However, I again setup another set which is working fine till now, since about 8 months.
Can I retrieve data in the earlier Time and Date 1.32 which are important to me?

Sakal Deo Sinhasakaldeosinha Friday, March 2, 2012 3:40:24 PM

No reply from anybody or RKM so far?

mattbel78 Thursday, March 29, 2012 5:47:37 PM

Hi Mr. Sinha, Have you tried the following (see below)? It worked for me. This prefs.dat file holds all of the informations you entered, including events: you will see this if you open the file with Notepad. Just close Opera and Time & Date (and close their process... or wait 5 minutes) before touching anything. I think you have all the information you need here. If you find that file, copy it somewhere for backup purposes, and then replace this file in its original location (may vary), but in a clean install of T&D (I would recommend).
