An important instrument in international sales law is the CISG, The Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
This convention was done in Vienna 1980-04-11. Members of the convention are now approaching 100 countries from all over the world and of all political and cultural systems.
In the legal system the sales law is part of the contract law, which again is part of the law of the obligations and the private law.
The basic contract law according to the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (Cisg), is essential in order to understand international contracts, as well as other contracts. Because most of the general principles of contract law apply to all types of contracts.
