My Operalost and frustrated

I have Windows XP on a Dell inspiron 6000 lap top. Lately I changed something somehow. I am hoping someone knows how to fix it. PLEEEEEEASE I hate having to use explorer!!!
Whenever I open Opera it goes to basic page, i then click new page, that works fine, but soon as I try to search or open a url it opens it by popping up a Microsoft Word program and opening the webpage in there as a word document?
What is going on? anyone know, please email me saildouglas@yahoo.ca or replay to this blog I guess
