Well, 12 hours and 30 minutes away from daughter number two making her first appearance outside the womb. Got an early start tomorrow morning. Will post more tomorrow.

The previous post about frustration concerned an API issue (up - down - up - down) at EVE-Online. While it was resolved, with an explanation, I just went through two DAYS of unwatchable television and abysmal customer service courtesy of Charter Cable. The only good part of that was the Internet connection and phone service remained up and unaffected. There was no explanation about it, and a second hour+ service call revealed that they were aware of the problem on their end. Fat chance I'll get any sort of credit for the two days of non-service, I'd be lucky to talk to anyone without getting stuck on hold in the queue for anything less than an hour. Thanks, been there - thank you for speaker phones.

Something that has always bothered me about online services is when they go down for whatever reason. Usually it is for system maintenance, which I completely understand - I work in the field, you need the downtime so the uptime works at its best - but feel it is always during the time I want/need to access the service. It is the unscheduled downtime that is the worst, especially when there is no explanation forthcoming from the provider. And when you pay for that service, it is enough to make your blood boil. In this case now, part of the service is up (arguably the important part), the other part is down. Isn't that what redundancy is all about? Bah! Guess I will live with it not working until later in the morning.

music, classic rock
So, keeping with the theme music. At least one person should remember this - "f'instance". I've got a few questions for you readers (there, I admitted there might actually be somebody reading this, maybe a couple of somebodies). Things that will make you think:
1a) Are you living the dream you had as a kid?
1b) If not, why not?
2) Do you work to live, or live to work?
3) Is the sky blue or green?
4) Is a zebra white with black stripes or black with white stripes?
5) Are you bending the spoon or is the spoon bending you?
You probably want to know my answers - hell, I do. Here you go, from the easiest to hardest.
5) Question paraphrased. Answer: there is no spoon.
3) Yes!
4) Black with white stripes - truth, look it up.
2) Right now, living to work.
1a) Another question paraphrased. Answer: not exactly.
1b) This is a great follow-up question. It puts you on the spot. Were you a fool dreaming those dreams as a kid, or did adult reality change your dreams? Or, did you give up on those kid dreams in favor of new dreams? I think, at least for me, that it is a combination of all that and then some. The real question is, are you happy? My answer to this is the reverse of #3 - yes and no. And that is where I am going to leave it for now.

music, classic rock, Rush
So, it has been over a year since I last posted anything here. Not like there wasn't anything happening that I could have written about, just that I didn't feel like writing about it. I find myself in a bit of a quandary considering what to put out to the public and what should be private. I find myself in good company in this "war over privacy", which brings up this post.
Near the beginning of summer I began wondering what some of my old High School friends were doing now - it was time for another major milestone reunion (not going to give away which, just that it was substantial). I spent some time searching the Web for some of the names, but came up empty for the most part. A search on my name yields quite a bit of info, which tells me something about what little privacy I thought I had. Obviously, the best way to keep from showing up on a Web search is to not be involved with computers or anything that can be placed on the Web. Of course, you can find just about anything on the Web, just not always the certain something that you really want at any given time. Anyway, for months now I've been wondering about old friends and listening to music we all shared back when. One of those bands we shared is Rush, who just put out a new DVD documentary.
Seems I wasn't alone at being alone. - The Police
Along come a number of post-HS friends looking for me, wondering what I am doing and if I had any blogs, etc. to point them to. Well, yes, but I haven't updated them in over a year (like this one) or more (for the others). Oops! Guess I should do something about that. So, a series of posts to talk about "stuff"...

EVE-Online
Not that anyone would notice, but I updated the photo and avatar pic. The photo is my interceptor just outside a station from
EVE-Online - a Science Fiction setting MMO. Check it out! The avatar pic is my main EVE-Online character - Mistigar.

Anyone? Answer please! Yeah, thought so.
Ramble on for a bit to make it seem like you know what your are doing. No, I don't get paid by the word. Don't get paid at all, so what do you expect for free?
Seriously though, this is a start. More than what was here two hours ago. Hell, more than was here two months ago. This has been sitting here with no content for quite some time. Well, that has just changed.
