Soul Patrol - Red Roses

,

This is a fantastic song by a Norwegian group named Soul Patrol, whom, alike our awesome Community Manager hails from Tromsø. I've loved this song since I first heard it 6 years ago. Its lyrics is originally by a well-known Norwegian author and lyricist, Knut Hamsun, but it's been translated to English by another Norwegian song writer and given music to by the group.

You can listen to the song or even download it from NRK Urørt. "Lytt" means "Listen" and "Last ned" means "Download". Go enjoy the song. It's a pearl.

I've transcribed the lyrics and guitar chords. Please notify if you see some discrepancies.

    [E] [B7]
I'm kneeling to give you a rosy gift
[B7] [E]
although you whisper nay
[E] [B7]
Please take my flower with thanks for those
[B7] [E]
you gave me to ease my day

       [A] [E]
You're casting down your thoughtful eyes
[A] [E]
dimmed by yesterday woes
[A] [E]
Take my flowers and don't forget
[E] [B7] [E]
my love lies within the rose

[E] [A]
[E] [A]

     [E] [B7]
Your tears were dew to soothe my mind
[B7] [E]
your smile made the sun return
[E] [B7]
You made a world where we could live
[B7] [E]
a place for my aching soul

  [A] [E]
A busy garden for birds and bees
         [A] [E]
where my soul gets sunshine and rain
    [A] [E]
And please, my dear, the roses are yours
[E] [B7] [E]
now again and again
