Opera M2 and Thunderbird: tabs (wow!)

, , , ,

Hello!

I'm bored smile so here I am writing about the latest buzz.

I read few days ago about some innovation available only in the latest Thunderbird trunk builds: tabs.

Brilliant idea to have tabs in mail clients to. Wow smile !!!

All would be rosy if people wouldn't forget that Opera M2 (the mail client) takes tabs for granted. It was born with tabs. If you don't believe me, try double-clicking an email smile. Among allowing you to view multiple emails open in different tabs, you can also have multiple views/folders opened.

Same goes for spatial navigation.

Now that's cool. Wonder when they will invent the awesome feature of viewing multiple folders at once in various tabs.

Opera should better advertise these awesome, but, yet-to-be-invented features: voice interaction, BitTorrent support, MDI, fit to window width, sessions, page zoom, mouse gestures, and some more smile.

P.S. To fellow Mozillators: I believe Thunderbird is a bit more mature as an email client, compared to Opera M2, not only based on features, also on the way it's made (a very fine product, like Firefox). Yet, I have to add Opera M2 is not just a little toy.

My short opinion is ... Firefox and Thunderbird should not play the catch-up game with Outlook and IE (and Opera), because that's what Microsoft wants everybody to do. Instead, Mozilla Corp. should pave its own way, with its own unique and innovative features. This is another blog post to post-pone until I am bored enough to write about smile.

Yes, they invented everything - they have good PR-experts - they love to boast and cheat.
IMHO, Opera marketing strategy should be more aggressive but fair and honest.

Eudora has had a tab-like taskbar for years anyway but it's time people stopped whining about the quality of product A vs product B and realised what Bill Gates realised 30 odd years ago: it's not the product, it's how you sell it. The vast majority of people in the world still have no idea how to state what they want in computer software, let alone the avenues to make this clear. Opera could well be the best product out there but that is irrelevant. You charged for it when nobody was selling browsers. Low and behold you never got market share and now you're all whining about it! LOL

Opera is the Best. Even without advertisement, a drinker knows where he can find a bottle of wine. In the same way we the Opera-type-people know where we can find a browser our type.
In my case, Opera didn't come to me. No body told me about it. I found out opera.
