Taj Residecy, Katrina Kaif, nevillelobo.net, Royal Challenger
...
I keep getting chances to meet
celebrities in my line of work. I tend to stay away caus eI can't stand the sight of them normally, but last Sunday I had to cover the Royal Challengers event at the Taj Residency. Boyu was I glad I did go there along with my camera.
This woman was looking superb and she was smart too! So it was fun asking her questions and getting some witty answers from her in return.

Movie, watch, watchmen, fame lido
...
Finally the wait is over. I watched the Watchmen movie today at 4 at Fame Lido along with my friend. I had first laid eyes on the Watchmen comic book about 6 odd years ago and had read parts of it then but I had totally forgotten it over the years. Watching the movie today bought back a lot of memories of the comic book but I think I should just go pick up another copy and read through it again.
The movie was great, I really enjoyed it. From the superb fight scenes to the discussions about morality and about how things that are seemingly wrong can change with age and experience kept me interested in this pretty long movie.
Catch up on this movie if your ready to spend some time in thought about concepts of what is right and wrong. Watch it for the great one liners and fight scenes (especially the ones with Rorschach.)

Computers, Apple, seminar, Bangalore
The crew from Apple was in town hosting their Pro series event. The seminar and presentation was free of charge and was held at the Chancery Pavilion on Residency Road. I've not really dealt much with Apple products except for the Ipods and an iMac when I was working as a crime reporter. I realized that Apple had some superb products for image and video editing when I was cutting and putting together video and voice overs for all my news stories. Unfortunately I truly feel that these products come at a premium that I cannot afford even if I wanted to.
The seminar was definitely interesting, there was a showcase of their product line first during the Keynote speech. After this was the main presentation which was all about how using an Apple computer can really speed up the entire process of processing images, videos, voice overs and basically anything under the sky. The feature set was amazing and the presentation style was definitely very interactive and a ton of fun! If they come around to town anytime soon I'll be sure to book my seat!
Peace!

India, Rant, Bangalore, Mysore
...
Why are Indian's so timid? Why don't we stand up for our rights? Why do we prefer to let someone else fight our fights for us?
A short story...
I travel to Mysore quiet frequently to visit friends and to take in the beauty of that ancient place. While traveling I take the normal buses not the Volvo's and the Rajahamsas. On one such return trip there was a drunkard sitting in one of the double seats. I was sitting 2 seats in front of this man. I knew he was drunk because he had been sitting next to me until I moved in front. A lot more people got on the bus and it got filled pretty quickly. There was no one sitting next to the drunkard but the women sitting around him kept coughing and covering their noses. I am pretty sensitive to bad smells and such so I was surprised that I wasn't feeling the effects of whatever they were suffering from. Then I finally got the faint hint of smoke... the drunk man was smoking in his seat inside a bus!
So I just sat there to see if any of these women (Most were in there late 20's) would say anything to the bus conductor who was all the way in the front. Not surprisingly no one did... so after five minutes of waiting I walked up and told the conductor about the smoke. He promptly walked back and told the man to throw out the cigarette or get off the bus. The man complied with the request and threw out the cigarette. After that there were no problems...
Why did no one else say anything? Why did the two women sitting in front of this drunk man say anything? Because we are a nation of people who are told to keep our mouths shut and bear everything. We are taught by our parents not to fight for things we know are right because "No one else will stand up for us when we are in need" (This is also true!)
What great culture... what great people... we should be proud...

Bangalore, work
It's been a long week at work, done a ton of work. The January issue should have about 3 articles written by me... unless something changes... Very happy and proud about that. Can I suggest that anyone living in Bangalore go out and pick up the January edition of 080 when it comes out?
I have written about a couple of different topics which all hold a lot of interest for me. Thats something that I have loved about my new job. I'm always doing something that I am interested in. In the coming issue I've tried to make a difference in people's life through the story that I've done for the culture lead... Here's hoping it makes the final cut and its of some help to the people featured in it.
Since I've started working at Explocity my writing has improved in leaps and bounds. Having my work scrutinized by my editor in chief and the senior copy editors allow me to realize where I have made mistakes and where I can make improvements. What I need to do more of now is reading! It's not that I don't ahve time but more like I've been lazy. I've got a couple of books thta I have started reading but not completed. I think reading more will definitely help my writing too.
Well anyways... hoping to make the most out of Sunday! My uncle is going to be at home today so looking forward to that!
