Friendship Day...

Most of the girls at our college are really very conservative and act all high and mighty so I was surprised when Shalini called me over to her and tied a sweet little band onto my hand. As usual everyone was jealous that they didn't get one and so they decided that the band wasn't a friendship band but the one for ' Raksha Bandhan.'
Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival during which sisters tie a beautifully drafted, ornate band onto the hands of a male who they consider to be their brother, especially if they don't have a brother of their own. So I don't think I need to explain anything about how my classmates felt about Shalini tying a Friendship band onto my hand.
Another cool thing that happened was that Varun, PT and I had the chance to take Sowmya and Nisha out to lunch in Manipal at Dollops. It was a lot of fun and I also ran into Sweeta there. We had a great time just talking about everything from classmates to the band that my friend gave me. I think that it was probably one of the most talked of topics of the day.. Shalini and my band.. haha.
I decided that I would have to give her something for friendship day too since she had been so kind to me. So after taking Nisha and Sowmya to one of the gift stores by our college I managed to pick up a nice little purple band for her.. and I also got her a nice chocolate, which really paid off cause I found out that she really loves chocolate (Like ME !!!).
Giving her the band and the chocolate was quite a chore since the only time I would see her in the evening would be at the auditorium. So by the time I got to the auditorium half the people were already there waiting for one of the inaugural programs to start. I met her outside the auditorium and we started chatting as usual. I decided that it was gonna be now or never and pulled out the band that I got her. She was happy about it and was all excited about which hand to put it on since this was the first one anyone had given her too. So once I had put it on for her I pulled out the chocolate ("Crackle") and gave it to her. That basically blew her away and she started talking about how much she loves chocolate and how she needed to hide it from her gluttonous roomates. By this time I think everyone inside the auditorium was just staring at us, since the chief guests hadn't arrived yet!
So anyways I said my goodbye's to her and left before the program could start. Not a bad day's work actually.
